FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

I just looked at the 2014-2015 catalog and for the AS degree you don't need sociology anymore but you still need it for the BSN program.

Those of you who asked for the study material, I haven't forgotten about you. I am almost done putting together the biology part and I will be sending it to you hopefully tonight or sometime tomorrow along with more powerpoints :)

Oh my gosh! These letters need to come already... From 2011-2013 for Fall they always come around July 3.... well the first letters at least. AHHHHH! I'm nervous. I had applied with a 215. I'm seriously trying to sit tight and just pray.

I think it is so crazy how we have to wait all this time just to find out whether or not we are accepted. It makes scheduling ANYTHING impossible for the fall. Does anyone else know what the hours will be like? I have heard a variation of things but I just want to try and start scheduling things and taking time off of work for orientation (hopefully this will be in our acceptance letter?)

I was also going to ask - Has anyone bought an NCLEX book that they like? I heard we should purchase one and use that to study for exams since it will help break down our course material. I heard Kaplan's is really good for the questions since it is most similar to the NCLEX.

with a 215 i am sure you are fine. I applied with a 196 i am nervous as can be!

last summer I think it took exactly 5 weeks for them to get their letters so maybe we will get it monday..fingers crossed

I'm just nervous because I had applied for Summer term. I was still taking Microbiology at the time and I was rejected and told to try for the next term. The letter said the cutoff was 185 and I was told I had a score of 180. When I calculated my score over and over. I was coming up with a 186, even without having finished micro. When I went to the school to discuss the 6 point discrepancy no one would speak with me. I have all A's in the prereqs save for one B in DEP. So I have no idea where the lack of 6 points came from since all the classes are worth 12-14 points. I have my previous NAT score paper also to prove my scores on that as well. That 6 point discrepany cost me my exceptance and no one would talk to me about it. I still retook the NAT and scored a 95 all together I think and then I finished micro with an A. So my points increased by 25 points with micro and a higher score on the NAT. But I was still upset that no one would explain to me where the missing 6 points came from. I guess that's why I'm on edge. My score calculates to 215. If they are still calculating that 6 point discrepancy though they have its a 209. Anyways, thats my rant story. haha.

wow that's a scary thought. Did you calculate your NAT scores correctly. Did they not take your highest grade in your classes (like if you took more than one math class or humanities class). I am soo paranoid I didn't calculate my scores correctly and mine is only 196. Anything above 200 should be fine so 209 should be fine.

I know how you feel. I applied for the summer term and found out they had me in the system as out of state which gave me zero chance of getting in. Supposedly it has been fixed but I'm still on edge about it because it's not the first time they have "fixed it". So fingers crossed! But even with a 209 I'm sure you're in!

with out of state they dont base it on the points system?

also did you bring anyone up there with you when you went up to the office to get an explanation. I would have brought my parents and threaten an attorney. I know that sounds extreme but that's a big deal if they made a mistake and wouldn't admit to it.
