Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.
What I was told by the nursing committee at FSCJ was that it simply doesn't have anything to do with how well your grades are or what your GPA/total points may have been. They have to admit students from all over Jacksonville. She said and I quote "sometimes you just may be that unlucky person who lives in the wrong part of town, we have to pull from different areas of Jacksonville to have diversity in our program. You may fall in that 10%." Considering I lived at the beach most of my life this fact shouldn't disqualify me from entering a damn program. I am willing to pay your program fees and go into debt and as an American citizen cannot be educated because I had lived in a specific section of the city? What is this 1950? It is down right unfair.
So someone loses their hard-earned spot to someone who it not necessarily undeserving but with what would be less qualifications in the business world. Does anyone know anyone who got in below the point cutoff?

are you sure about this..that seems illegal...when i asked last year they said they based it strictly on points. I think they could get sued if they stated the cut off was such and such and people below the cut off didn't get in because of a geographic location. Where you live doesnt even determine poverty level or anything. I would sue them if they did that. Its simply not right
That is what I was told. I hate the fact that I even had to apply here but I am going on one full year without being accepted into UNF. I don't see how in the world they can get away with saying things like that to people, but that is exactly what she did say to me. She went on to say that students who apply that are closer to North Campus college are considered first because they like choosing students from that area because students from MY area are "expected" to have higher scores and overall points. This mind you, was also after I was rejected a seat. I don't know who runs things over there, but a coworker and a close friend of mine said that is the way they are with people who come asking about WHY they were denied. I honestly think its complete discrimination and if I wasn't still trying to be accepted to a nursing school somewhere I would be in the Deans office right now complaining about it. This is definitely my plan if I don't get in this semester.
I also have never seen a college president such as Steve Wallace be able to get away with that kind of nonsense with the faculty COMPLETELY oblivious to what was going on. He exploited the general public for his personal gain to the complete ends of excess and if this wasn't enough heat just four months ago FSCJ was found liable by the State of Education for 3.4 MILLION DOLLARS in connection with a huge financial aid scandal. This actually had CURRENT STUDENTS paying the college back for THEIR mistake. Every time I walk into a Financial Aid office at any campus, I have 15 copies of things and still get completely wrong, fabricated, or judgmental answers from ALL faculty. For a college who seems to turn a blind eye to things, that makes them look completely guilty in my book. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else doesn't come out of the woodpile for being a complete shade ball from their faculty. IMHO they all need to be fired and have fresh people who give a crap teaching.
Ya I want to apply to unf but I have to wait a year. What is the point of having a cut off then or do they accept those living in north side with lower points.
My best friends aunt lives in a beautiful house on the river in the northside (seconds away from the ghetto) so if I used her address would I have a higher chance of getting in. I know people who grew up in who didnt come from good family and lived in trailers in high school So they reasoning makes no sense

And as long as you have a Florida residence you can put down any address. unless they are looking at where you went to highschool but im sure there are people in their 40s applying so they cant really do that.
If you looking for someone whos helpful and supernice go to Deerwood. The 1st 2 people I talked to when I went in treated me like I was wasting there time but I called recently with a question and someone named Mary was great, a nice change from what I was used to and although she wasnt able to answer my question right away, she called back a week or so later. Why cant they all be more like that?
OMG!!! That is ridiculous! I went to the information session after they sent out tge letters for the summer semester and I did not hear anything like this. Ic they are so "right" about discriminating, why can't they be upfront about it and not pick and choose who they say that to. This really needs to be investigated.

If you have been taking classes there, you do not have to apply for readmission or residency. If you are currently taking classes you do not have to resubmit residency forms. I had to even though I've attended FSCJ for 2 years because I didn't take classes there at all for 2 semesters. I took classes at St. John's River State College. If you have not taken classes there for 2 subsequent terms or a year, that's when you have to resubmit residency forms. I totally agree with what you said "SweetSouthernLove" What you said is correct. The nurses I know probably fell in that unlucky 10%.
