FSCJ Fall 2011 Accepted

I figured I would go ahead and start a new thread. Maybe we can help each other get through these next couple months of scrambling around.

For now....let's just celebrate!!!!:yeah::up:

:nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse::nurse:

RELAX!!!! that is the most important thing. everything will seem overwhelming at first just get organized so you know when everything is due. Nursing school is doable. I am a husband, father, and hold a full time job with 3 As and 1 B. if you have to work, work, if not youll get more study time. i try to save money any which way i can cause i drive from the beaches to north campus M-TH. by the way the grading scale is different 100-93 A 92-86 B 85-80 C anything below 80 is failing.

READ YOUR BOOKS!!: dont cram. the first week of school youll have 16 chapters to read (its like reading a foreign language if this your first time into the medical field) unless the professor specifies otherwise. it doesnt stop there either it'll be like that the whole semester, maybe a few less here or there. this is where your face will be for the next 4 semesters.

Just remember all professors are there to help and they want you to succeed. enjoy, have a life, just let your family members know that when its time for school stuff its time for school stuff.

Before i forget BLS needs to be from AHA (American Heart Association).

Hope this is informative and helps everyone out. RELAX DON'T STRESS, STAY ORGANIZED, STUDY, and ENJOY!!! Nursing school is what you make of it, so make it a fun one.

CONGRATS AGAIN TO FALL CLASS 2011!!!

Now back to studying for Techniques Cummulative Final! EEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

hello everyone! I am joining the group (n/w person)

I want to start by congratulating everyone on your accomplishment!!!

I am searching for a study buddy or buddies that live near Arlington. I guess this is kind of like a classified ad :D..I need someone that wants to succeed and knows that it takes more than wishing to excel, someone that will provide support and encouragement while keeping it real at all times (I promise to do that same)

This is so exciting, I can barely work! lol

Acceptance letters for the fall 2011 have already gone out??? On that note, congrats to all who already know!!

Wow I would love to have your seat! Sorry you are not able to accept it, I know the feeling. I got a call later for the Spring term and got accepted for days and could not take it. Still waiting on my letter for fall.:sniff:

Congrats to Fall 2011 accepted!!! Im in the first term and thought that i would help you guys out a lil. I need a break from studying for a final on monday. so here goes.

Shots: i went to Northside medical clinic, they've been seeing fscj students for the longest they know the process. shop around make sure your getting the shot needed, double and triple check.

Uniforms: Whites i got 2 sets, just because their white and im a guy whose messy. Lab coat not needed. Shoes: crocs not acceptable, ladies save your feet from the heels and get shoes. the ladies in my class bought the heeled nursing shoes and regretted buying it after the first 3 hours on their feet during clinicals. Polos: i got 2 sets its gotta last 4 semesters. Khaki pants you can buy anywhere.

Skills Kit: must buy. you need to practice

B/P cuff and Steth: B/P cuff must be manual and buy it cheap 15-20 bucks. Steth-buy one to last you through nursing school. FSCJ north campus bookstore sells a kit 20-30 bucks in the BACK OF THE STORE (look for it) comes with penlight, scissors, pen, ruler, pocket pouch, dont buy the 60-$100+ behind the counter. you can hear the same things everyone else can. they also sell the tidbits that your missing. Its all about saving money while in nursing school, if you can find it cheaper great. your wallet/pocketbook well thank you.

Thanks so much for the advice. I made the mistake of buying the recommended stethoscope for $150. Ugh. What should we expect for the first semester of classes (with regard to schedules)? I am currently working FT in a clinic and have patients scheduled into November. I called the school yesterday to see if I could get an estimate for which days are likely to be busier, etc. I was told that I would learn all of that at orientation. Meanwhile, my schedule is currently full of real patients (I am an RD) that need to be rescheduled sooner vs later. Can you advise me some about the schedule demands? I have not told my supervisors I have been accepted because I am not sure how we are going to rework my schedule. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! I'm looking forward to meeting my classmates:)

To everyone still looking into vaccine prices u should call your insurance I called yesterday and am 100% covered for everything so before u go and spend a lot of money call.

Im n/w and I live in Arlington too....we will be at North Campus

I'd love to join you 2 also! I'm near Beach and Hodges!

That would be awesome. Are you n/w too?

I'm not, but if you are setting something up where we are all out of class/work ... I'll be there. Unless, there are some daytime folks who live in the area.... I know sugarbee does!! :-)

So...I wound up getting all white K-Swiss Classic Sneakers. I think I should be good.

And as far as the steth.... are you guys going to go with the higher price range?? I've heard both opinions so far. Relax123 - go w/ affordable vs Current RN Student - get the best quality.

Also, I got my fingerprinting done today. There were 2 other FSCJ RN Students in there! Both very sweet people! :-) One of them was in her 2nd term and she said, "Get Ready For Some STRESS!!" But, I believe Relax123 is right... It's what you make of it.

....Back to Statistics Homework. Yuck!

Oh! PS -- I sent a FB Req!
