I figured I would go ahead and start a new thread. Maybe we can help each other get through these next couple months of scrambling around.

For now....let's just celebrate!!!!:yeah::up:

Ok, SB, I got on the group! Yay! Sorry to bug you; next time I will not make the suggestion if I can't help do it, LOL!!!!

@FutureFL: Thanks for the tip on the undies at Target!! I'm all over that!

@Mindy: Yikes, I'm so "by the book" I am worried about any grey or black trim. I'm curious b/c I was looking at some New Balance, but they have the slightest grey trim. Does anyone else know how hard core they are about that???

Lol! No worries 77!

SB,

Did you erase the other group, or were you just able to change it? Worried about people getting mixed up and being split b/t the two pages...

I deactivated it and in 14 days it will be deleted, you gotta love FB. ;)

The account was just a page like what someone would make for thier favorite band.

I think the new FB account and group will work nicely until someone more tech savvy gets interested in making something new.

Are we both up stressing the small stuff?!

Lol.

Xo,

S

No, sorry. I just get things in my head and can't get them out!!! haha! Ok! I will not bother you about it anymore!! :)

I've got to do something to keep my mind off of waiting for these people who are holding me up from making progress on my paperwork!!! ;)

It's really not bothersome and you shouldn't be sorry.

I've heard (on the boards here) that they are super picky about shoes. I would check with someone at the school first. :)

Congrats to Fall 2011 accepted!!! Im in the first term and thought that i would help you guys out a lil. I need a break from studying for a final on monday. so here goes.

Shots: i went to Northside medical clinic, they've been seeing fscj students for the longest they know the process. shop around make sure your getting the shot needed, double and triple check.

Uniforms: Whites i got 2 sets, just because their white and im a guy whose messy. Lab coat not needed. Shoes: crocs not acceptable, ladies save your feet from the heels and get shoes. the ladies in my class bought the heeled nursing shoes and regretted buying it after the first 3 hours on their feet during clinicals. Polos: i got 2 sets its gotta last 4 semesters. Khaki pants you can buy anywhere.

Skills Kit: must buy. you need to practice

B/P cuff and Steth: B/P cuff must be manual and buy it cheap 15-20 bucks. Steth-buy one to last you through nursing school. FSCJ north campus bookstore sells a kit 20-30 bucks in the BACK OF THE STORE (look for it) comes with penlight, scissors, pen, ruler, pocket pouch, dont buy the 60-$100+ behind the counter. you can hear the same things everyone else can. they also sell the tidbits that your missing. Its all about saving money while in nursing school, if you can find it cheaper great. your wallet/pocketbook well thank you.

Ready for more?!

ORIENTATION!!!!! if you have a problem getting there contact the school and why. Otherwise you must make it, if you MISS ORIENTATION YOU JUST LOST YOUR SEAT!!! theyll call the next person in line.

Books: i got the box of books (theyll explain) their cheap cant go wrong there. the other books i got from amazon with student savings on shipping. for the tech savvy individuals they sell ebooks, but you have to buy the "box of books." thats how they did it with our term at least.

Facebook: great idea for those who need to know. wasnt for me too much chatter and drama i deleted it.

During orientation theyll explain about the program and where and how to get help. first week of school the professors will explain the syllabus and whats expected in each class. health assessment and techniques is hands on stuff (assessing the patient, needle sticks, sterile techniques, and iv infusion). nursing concepts-the concepts of nursing (thought process and decision making), and pharmacology-drugs (what we give to patient and what interacts with what).

ORGANIZATION: the calendar they give you (MS word format) is only the testing schedule. The weekly events you should keep an eye on these. bounce them back to things in the syllabus some information may have not been entered into the weekly schedule.

Thanks for the info. We need all the help we can get.

hello everyone! I am joining the group (n/w person)

I want to start by congratulating everyone on your accomplishment!!!

I am searching for a study buddy or buddies that live near Arlington. I guess this is kind of like a classified ad :D..I need someone that wants to succeed and knows that it takes more than wishing to excel, someone that will provide support and encouragement while keeping it real at all times (I promise to do that same)

This is so exciting, I can barely work! lol

-NJ

P.S. when do we get confirmation of the location for the n/w...my letter didn't say which campus I would be attending
