Stars that's good that you've taken charge of his upcoming appointment, I hope they can get him in sooner

NJ22 glad the dogs have settled down

Thankfully yesterday's work meeting was shorter than expected, though I did get another new case.  Hoping for no new cases today

After work was busy, did laundry and vacuuming and exercised

Woke up early with a headache in one eye, like a migraine, but managed to vanquish it with just acetaminophen, which wouldn't happen with a migraine.  Weird

After work today should be fairly quiet,  have to get a birthday card for my sister and some treats for the cat.  Have noticed I've been more tired at night, not sure why

Foggy morning today, will get into the low 70s, although will be warmer over the weekend

Good morning!

Joe, hope you have a Good Friday.

Stars, most likely NC is like here in Florida that when a spouse can't speak for themselves the legal spouse has all power of attorney unless written otherwise.   This was one of the reasons LGBT people fought hard for gay marriage.  I'm sure I've told the story about a long time couple I knew when one died in a tragic car accident, his parents came in and took his body and the house and kicked my friend out.

I think it is a good idea to keep track of her finances and that they are well spent on her behalf in case her children and grandchildren make accusations.  Since the elderly are victimized they need to be protected as well.

My mother has dementia, so that if my 90 year old father who is completely with it and her POA goes first, her health care and other decisions will fall to me as is written in his will.  I will most likely legally turn this all over to my sister who lives with them full time now.

The woes of a society that has extended life span I suppose.

I've been in med-surg hell and nothing good to stay about that.

H'lo pea-oh-pels!

This morning I woke up to hearing hubby call my name ( I was sleeping on my 'good' ear, so didn't really hear him until I lifted my head off the pillow.) He said, "I need help. I fell." He was on the floor of the front hall, said he was on his way down and on the third step is when he fell. He scraped his right lower arm and his right little toe (he may have broken it.) I had him scoot to where the stairs to the den start and put a sheet behind his back and bottom like a sling so I could help him up to a sitting position. Had him put his feet down on the second step and used the sheet to help him stand up. Then once he was up, he went into the kitchen to sit in a chair so he could catch his breath. After a while he went upstairs and sat on an underpad on his bed, and I helped him change, because he had been incontinent after his fall. His right hand and arm look more swollen this morning. I hope the Dr's office calls with a cancelled appt-slot SOON. I don't want to take him to the ER, I want his Dr to send him over for direct admission. That way he can specify all the problems that need to be addressed. We'll see, I guess. If he gets worse over the weekend (seems to be a habit of his) I will have to send him to the ER via ambulance. I keep telling him I can NOT keep trying to think of ways to get him up, as my legs definitely complain later, and I do NOT need to strain  or hurt myself! It is hard to watch him try to get around. He always says he's 'okay', but he is restless and thinks of things he has to get up to do or get for himself. I tell him he has springs in his butt....but if he really did, he would find it easier to get up from his chair. He needs a new recliner with a higher seat, and he needs a new box-Spring and mattress set. Unless some strange inheritance comes in, we won't be able to afford either one. The way he is going, he may not need either item.

The dirty laundry is calling my name. w00t!

Momo has taken to kissing my nose and chin. Last night she cleaned my fore- arm and later, under the covers, decided my big right toe needed attention! She is feeling a lot more comfortable and at home now and as of tomorrow afternoon I will have had her for one week!

Now THAT was weird....not sure how I ended up having my post posting twice! Just....STRANGE!

Hello all!

Tweety, hope your time at work FLIES, without drama, and you are soon home to recuperate.

No Stars, so glad Momo is settling in, good for you both.  Now, Mr. Stars, on the other hand....  hope the MD office has a cancellation SOON.

We got up, got the cats and dog fed, and then took Toby to the vet.  Vet was able to draw blood, we will get results tomorrow. Toby actually perked up last night and today, and seems more his old self.  Stools are solid, no diarrhea (though he did poop in the crate, while we drove to the vet).  After we got home from the vet, we had lunch and some watermelon for dessert.  Watermelon and cantaloupe are Toby's FAVORITE fruits, so he sat at our feet and miaow'ED the whole time we were eating, begging for some!  As he is on the mend, we opted not to give him other than his regular food, just in case.  There will be other times for him to eat watermelon!  Anyway, we are relieved he is doing better, and will continue observing him over the weekend.

It is overcast today, and rain is expected tomorrow, clearing Sunday.  That will be nice, for our area.

Hope your Friday is going well, have a good evening!

NSIME, it seems like hubby should have his TV and his bed on the same level of the home.  Is it possible?

There were a few glitches this today.    I know when I clicked to make a post, a post I just made popped up and I had to clear it first.  The quote wasn't working and posts were "hidden".    Seems to be normal now though.

Like @Tweety said, we had some issues today. I THINK we are back to some semblance of normalcy. LOL!

Mine was still moderated just moments ago in politics.  Maybe it's just my cantankerous style?

No, the TV is in the den on the lower level, where both recliners are facing it from the opposite wall. Nannie's "bedroom" is beside the den, in what used to be her sewing room and is where the washer and dryer are. There is also a bathroom on this lower level. If Nannie was not here, he could use that room to sleep in, BUT the kitchen is still 9 steps up from the den, and he goes there for his pepsi's and to sit at the table and catch his breath. and sit staring at the floor looking dazed.

I may have to get him to the hospital today, if I can convince him to go; he can barely walk and has to be supported while getting up from chairs. The little toe that looks cut or broken (hard to tell) should be seen to. He NEEDS to elevate his left hand and forearm; he NEEDS to let me put his foot in a small tub to soak it (with Epsom salts?), and he NEEDS to elevate that foot, as well. He is the proverbial horse that won't drink from the water when he is led there. MAYBE the hospital nurses could do better with him. All I get for my suggestions is: "Maybe later,"

NSIME if he were my home care patient, I would be looking for solutions that eliminated his need to go up and down stairs.  Eliminate YOUR need to go up and down stairs.

The first thing we did when we were both retired was to downsize to a smaller, single story home. That helped with hip and knee and foot pain between the two of us.  You probably can't go smaller, and this is a terrible market unless your home has really appreciated significantly, but even then, property is expensive.

Maybe put a TV in his room?
