Who else out there is preparing to apply to either Wesleyan or TCU for 2008? I'm just preparing to sit for my CCRN (I have my CNRN that Wesleyan will accept but not TCU) & take my GRE. I know the deadline for TCU is October & Wesleyan has moved theirs up to Dec. 1. Not much time left. Anyone out there received any tips for admission?:uhoh21:
Glad to hear that you did well! It is always good to leave feeling that way :)
How long did your interview last and did they focus your clinical questions on your work experience?
:uhoh3:Mine is on Friday a.m. with TCU next week, and I am afraid I am getting little sleep thinking about all of this!

To answer another question, TCU said that they are giving out acceptances in February also so about the same time as TWU. My interview started late so I guess it was about 30 minutes long. They completely focused on my specialty, which is neuro. They also asked a lot of non-clinical stuff which suprised me. More getting-to-know-u stuff. It was very, very relaxed and they were SO nice to talk to, really. I was really stressed out yesterday and now feel so relaxed. I came home and our maid was cleaning the house like a mad woman. Vaccums going, all kinds of noise, and I fell asleep on the sofa right in the middle of all this and slept like a baby! I was just so relaxed! I interview next Monday at TCU but don't think I'll be as stressed out about it. I really was dreading this clinical interview!
Hey Neurogeek, I'm sure you did great! I envy you in having it over with. I haven't had a decent night sleep in months worrying about my interview at TWU. I interview at 11:15 on Jan. 5th. I'm glad to know that they asked questions within your specialty. My specialty is pediatrics and I've made myself nuts studying up on PACWP's and all sorts of other stuff that's completely foreign to me!
Good luck to everyone who is preparing for their interviews.

Congrats neurogeek and pedsccrn on your interviews! I'm interviewing at TWU and TCU next week. I've been studying my hemodynamics off of the PACEP.org website (pulmonary artery catheter education project), which is a great site, plus, you get CEU's (for free).
I've heard that TWU's interview is highly clinical, and I'm glad that it wasn't as bad as you (neurogeek) thought, but I'm still nervous. Did you meet Dr. Reinke at TWU? He's the physiology professor, and is quite nice. Actually, everyone I've ever had contact with at TWU has been so relaxed and welcoming.
On another note, how in depth does TCU get when asking you personal questions? Do they ask specifics about religion? One of my friends went to TCU for undergrad and loved it. However, he said that they are now trying to become a bit more secular to appeal to more applicants, and putting TCU everywhere vs. Texas Christian University. I'm going to be myself, but would like to know how religiously based their program is, and how personal the questions get.
Keep me up to date on your interview experiences.
Thanks
I have another question: How in-depth do the interviewers get when asking you about drugs? Do you need to know what they do to preload, afterload, contractility, what are the clinical indications and what receptors they act on (alpha, beta 1, beta 2), or is it more than that?
Thanks again!

Woo Hoo!!! My interview at TWU is over!!! Neurogeek's right, lot of questions r/t specialty, mine is Cardiovascular.... was told I did "very well".... I got interviewed by the same panel as Neurogeek... I came home, and my first thought was "I have the weekend off, what am I gonna do?" I couldnt even see past my interview...
So we wait until February, and I have a Chili's gift card thats gonna buy Presidente' Margaritas either way.... Now the interview at TCU seems like a walk in the park.

any idea how long TCU is going to make us wait after interviews to get the acceptance letters?
