Who else out there is preparing to apply to either Wesleyan or TCU for 2008? I'm just preparing to sit for my CCRN (I have my CNRN that Wesleyan will accept but not TCU) & take my GRE. I know the deadline for TCU is October & Wesleyan has moved theirs up to Dec. 1. Not much time left. Anyone out there received any tips for admission?:uhoh21:

Spoke with TCU today. They said the last class gpa averages for admission were:
Overall: 3.15
Last 60: 3.3
Math/Science 3.3
I fall short in two of the GPAs and exceed in one. My experience is 11years (7 icu). GRE 1060. Hoping I can make the cut.
They say all of the application data gets transfered into "points". I wonder what the conversion for each piece is.
Got a call from TWU today. Ive been granted an interview! It's not til Janaury, but I bet Ill be excited until then!
So far Ive been so impressed regarding how nice everyone is at TWU. The two people Ive spoken with have been more than awesome. That really goes along way with me.

I don't know how TCU does their conversion. You'll make the cut, don't sweat it. I'm great in my GPA overall and in science but need to still retake the stupid GRE. Ok, so you got a call from TWU ALREADY!!!! I haven't even reapplied. I have to take the CCRN next week & retake the stupid GRE first. So now I am really, really, really nervous that people are already getting interview letters!!!!

Those are admission averages, not minimums. Pass the CCRN and get your package together...the interview will take care of itself. Good luck.
Good luck on your GRE. I know youll pass the CCRN so absolutey no need to wish you luck there. The CNRN is one tough test. My respect to you on that one for sure. Im not on the addmission board but just looking at you and all of your posts tells me youre the real deal.
Get it done so you can get in.
I'm taking my CCRN on the 27th. Wish me luck! I know that TWU has already sent some interview letters out for those who applied early, but they are beginning till January which is good. Sounds like TWU and TCU are interviewing at the exact same times this go around, which is better I think. "Just a CRNA", you seem to know a lot about TCU so how about giving us insight into the questions we can expect during interview.
Ive heard that TCU doesnt include a clinical oral exam anymore. It's more of a meet and greet. I think that since they require ccrn they feel that more testing isnt necessary. :) They probably want to assess possible retardation just by looking at the candidates and seeing what they have to say in general.
That's what I've heard too. One of my friends just started there, and she said at her interview they focused on personality, financial stuff, and why she wanted to be a CRNA. Weird. I talked with X at TWU yesterday & said they are planning on interviewing all qualified applicants again this year. He said last year that was about 400 for 120 spots. Yikes! He also (sigh) told that I hadn't missed the cut by much, that they just ran out of slots before they ran out of qualified people. He was really kind about it, and said that he didn't know if telling me would make me feel better or worse. It was very mixed, I have to say. I felt good that I came that close but then kicked myself for not pushing a bit harder!:rotfl:
Four more months until interview time. Tick Tock... Tick Tock... Another chapter in my Chemistry book read. Could time go by any slower?
I sent in all my reapplication stuff this week! So.....now I'm waiting too.....tick tock, tick tock......also sent in my app to TCU......tick tock....I feel like a stalker.......
Shadowed today. Learned tons. Will do it again at different facilities just to get an idea of the differences in practice.
Had one discouraging moment. Was out in the hall surrounded by CRNA students, some of who I know. They all had 3.6 - 4.0 GPAs. My heart sank. I was so dissapointed. My lil ole 3.24 may not compete. Secure feeling has left the building....
