Fort Worth CRNA Programs

Who else out there is preparing to apply to either Wesleyan or TCU for 2008? I'm just preparing to sit for my CCRN (I have my CNRN that Wesleyan will accept but not TCU) & take my GRE. I know the deadline for TCU is October & Wesleyan has moved theirs up to Dec. 1. Not much time left. Anyone out there received any tips for admission?:uhoh21:

Just sitting here tonight having a "reality" moment. Now that the interviews are upon us, I am dreading the wait after more than anything. Both TWU & TCU have said that they will be announcing by the end of February, but I think that January will probably be the longest month of my life! I want to wish everyone out there the best of luck because you are all very deserving people who have worked really hard for this! Good luck, good luck, good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was freaking out about interviews coming up and I just found this site. I've enjoyed reading everyones thoughts and advice. Thanks to all of you, you've helped ease my nerves... a little :lol2: I interview with TCU Jan 9th and TWU Jan 14 (in Colorado..bc thats where i want to do my clinicals) Good luck to everyone!

I just graduated from TCU 2 weeks ago; took boards 2 days ago. This is one of the best programs in the country. Choosing between TCU, Texas Weslyn, and LSU it was a nobrainer. Don't worry about those averages. Take me for example: 3.1 GPA, 970 GRE, Horrible interview, great score on CCRN; got accepted, finished #1 in my class with 4.0; took boards-cut off at 100 questions. It is all about your ATTITUDE and STRENGTH to complete this program. The staff at TCU are exceptional. It was the best decision of my life. GOOD LUCK!!

So has anyone heard if clinical questions will be asked at the interviews this year or if they are going to do the same format as last year...no clinical questions, just "get to know you" questions?

tcu crna....thanks for the boost of confidence. when you say "great score" on the CCRN, what do you mean? my interview is on the 7th, getting a little nervous. what were your interviews like when you went through? any infor would be very helpful for us poor little wannabes.

Interview on the 4th. From Houma, LA (bout 50 miles south of "N'awlins") probably gonna brush up on some CCRN stuff until then I guess... The anticipation is a killer... Good luck to you guys man...

Dude, I might know you. I'm from Houma and I'm currently in Slidell. Do you work at TGMC? I used to work in CCW, 7on/7off. My sisters are nurses there. In fact, they are both in NP school at USA. As for me, I'm leaving for CRNA school in May. My program starts in June'08.

To all other posters, I wish you all the best of luck. I just finished reading what everyone had to say and I feel for you guys...I was where you are just last month and I thought I would die. The waiting game is torture!! I feel your pain...I'm feeling nauseated on your behalf.:barf01:

At any rate, for what it's worth, I have friends that graduated nursing school with less than stellar GPAs and they were accepted at TWU. One poster stated that the avg GPA at TWU was a meager 3.15. I believe that to be accurate because one of my friends had a 2.8 GPA and the other had a 2.9 GPA. I hope that this encourages those of you with GPAs less than 3.3. My alma mater, LSU won't even consider an applicant whose GPA isn't at least a 3.3. I don't necessarily agree with that perspective because I believe that there are diamonds-in-the-rough just waiting for an opportunity to prove themselves.

Relax guys, the Texas programs have a history of interviewing people and not just their transcripts. Personally, I believe that some of the individuals with 3.9/4.0 GPAs are lonely people who don't play well with others. Therefore, their only friends are their textbooks. My GPA is 3.541, I have friends and I enjoy going out and having a good time.

Finally, if you think you are stressed now...just wait until the excitement of being accepted wears off. The OMG did I really get in phase kicks in rather quickly. Then you will experience stress on a much higher echelon. Happy New Year to all... :balloons::biere:

So has anyone heard if clinical questions will be asked at the interviews this year or if they are going to do the same format as last year...no clinical questions, just "get to know you" questions?

I called TCU a couple of weeks ago & was told that it's going to be get-to-know-u again but that you may get asked one or two clinical questions, maybe not.

tcu crna....thanks for the boost of confidence. when you say "great score" on the CCRN, what do you mean? my interview is on the 7th, getting a little nervous. what were your interviews like when you went through? any infor would be very helpful for us poor little wannabes.

when I submitted my app. at TCU they asked me for my CCRN scores, which I gave them. They said they were really good, and I asked the same question, "what is good?" They told me they look for scores >100.

Me again! Well, tomorrow am is the B-I-G day at TWU for me. Feeling a bit freaked out right now :chair:. Can't believe it's already here. Suddenly I can't remember a thing about any drugs, or vent settings, or hemodynamics.....aahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:crying2::cry:

Neurogeek, I have a feeling you will get in. Good luck.......!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say good luck to all of you going through interviews over the next couple of weeks!!!!!!

Good luck and God bless

Well, the stress is over! Interview was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated! Very clinical but not bad. I interviewed with the program director at TWU, the professor over clinical lab at TWU, and the CRNA coordinator from Harris Hospital. All 3 were very nice and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I had really positive vibes from them, and was told that I did very well as I was leaving. So now it's 2 to 3 weeks waiting!!!!
