anyone here become a nurse after majoring in business adminstration? anyone here switch out of RN school to become a business major? what was it like? how hard was the transition?
Let's brainstorm what types of self employment someone with a background in accounting and nursing could start. Of course, one would want to determine the need and ability for people to pay before starting such a business. How about the following: medical bill review (find errors in billing for individuals) medical bill review and coordination for individuals (help them sort through EOBs and invoices to determine what needs to be paid or not paid), or contract with medical equipment or supplies companies to do their billing. Can anyone think of other self employment options? Small business is one of the fastest growing segments of the economy.

RNentrepreneur has mentioned that you can use your business qualifications alongside your nursing ones to set up business, this is not something that would be available in the UK as easily, nurses generally work for someone else, be it in a NHS hospital or private facility, I would love the opportunity to be self employed, as a nurse practitioner and prescriber I can see that in the future there may be a possibility for this but at the moment the culture within the UK would not really support such a venture. The idea of using my business and management skills alongside my nursing skills really appeals to me

I was an accounting major on my way to a BA in accounting and working as a bookkeeper saving money to finish my degree. I realized that while I liked working with numbers and doing accounting (I'm a heck of an organizer) I hated working in an office and not making a difference in the world. So, when I went back to school it was to nursing school. I never regretted it.
