Hi
So I passed the NCLEXRN and now I am looking for a job.. I thought the difficult part was passing the NCLEX RN. I am a little bit concerned since I have applied for several jobs and I have gotten 0 calls. I am foreign educated nurse with experience. My last experience was 2 years ago and it was also abroad. I stopped working to take care of my baby + it took some time to valid my degree here in the US etc... I am a permanent resident already so I am not looking for any sponsor however, despite my experience I am not getting any calls! I am afraid human resources think I am looking for an sponsor since all my nursing experience is abroad.
Is there any Green Card Holder international nurse looking for a job or that has already found a job? How did you do it? Did you use any recruiter agency? I am in South East Florida.
Also my last experience was as a Primary Nursing role in a Dr. Office. Now I am looking for something in a hospital setting. Any tips of how to get the first job here in the US??
THANK YOU

You might need to look at any hospitals that offer a New Grad or RN Residency Program. That might help you to be considered since you are a new NCLEX-RN passer. You're not a new grad of course. But just to get into it considerably, that might be an option for you. You can also apply at any SNF or skilled nursing facility, get your experience there and apply at any hospitals.

Hi tortuguita,
I am in a similar position! Spent the last year and a half in primary care and now looking for jobs. I've been out of the hospital for about two years. I've applied for a few relevant jobs but not getting any responses. Did you have any luck? I also don't require sponsorship! I've included that on a cover letter but still am not hearing back. Although I'm looking in the NY area (I have a NY license), I would still appreciate any words of encouragement!

have you tried getting a RN Job via an agency ?
Hi NurseeDeeva!
I'm not eligible for international agencies because I don't need sponsorship. I contacted one agency but they don't have any positions around NYC and the recruiter was quite rude which put me off! I'll keep researching agencies in the meantime though.

Maybe try LTC/nursing home/rehab. They’re generally more short-staffed than hospitals.
