FOREIGN RN FROM PHILIPPINES, NCLEX-IL, CES pending... HAVE SOME CONCERNS... PLS HELP>

World Registration

hi nurses!!! i am a registered nurse from the philippines, finished my BSN there as well, i am currently residing here in chicago. i understand that the first step for nclex application for illinois is to register/purchase the credentials evaluation services or CES by CGFNS. did that, so CGFNS is currently waiting for some documents from my school and licensing authority back in the philippines. i am soooo excited to take my test that i log-in to my cgfns account like everyday!!! :lol2:

so my questions are:

  1. do i have to take an english proficiency exam (toefl, ielts, etc...)???
  2. how long does it usually take for CGFNS to finish the CES??? they have this expedite feature and when u get it (costs $250.00) they will be evaluating your documents within 10days once they received everything. i wanna know if it'll make much difference if i have it expedited and whether its worth the price. :)
  3. and just now, i got a call from a friend who lives in california. she is also a BSN graduate from the philippines. she was gonna reapply for her 3rd NCLEX but then she got a letter from the california BON somehow saying that the BSN graduates from the philippines do not have the same curriculum which they require in california (something like that...) and that they would need to go back to school for all those subject areas they did not meet. she was sooooo frustrated, she doesnt know what to do now... and it make me worry about my application too... is there a possibility something like that would happen to IL BON too??? i just hope there wouldn't be any problem since IL applicants are evaluated by the CGFNS...

hoping to get some information re my concerns... this is my first post by the way, if that matters... :lol2:

THANK YOU...

Check with the Florida BON website what you are required to do before submitting your application. It used to be CES report or other acceptable assessment and that had to be sent before you sent your application

Do they really require TOEFL or IELTS? I read that if it can be waived if the subjects or textbooks that are used are in English.

I am really having a hard time figuring this out :( is it more easier if i've done this in the Philippines? Before I went here?

:nurse: Hi! I was searching about filipino nurses in Chicago and i found your forum, i would like to ask ur advice on how i should apply as RN in IL, i got my license on 2013 and right now im reviewing for IELTS, planning to take CGFNS and NCLEX here in the Philippines before I go there. Have you applied at all to the state? What visa will you be looking for or have? You will not be able to sit the NCLEX unless you been given the OK from the state and CGFNS exam is not required for IL but CES report which is a breakdown of your transcripts

My mom is in chicago and trying to process my application there, ryt now im gaining hospital experience and taking the IELTS this may 17 in cebu.. I read the NCLEX requirements and it has TOEFL/IELTS + CGFNS... Is that true to all or not for IL? I have read also the requirements for IL CES report and have my transcript and credit description ready.. Have any idea how can i start my licensure application for IL ?? Thanks so much!

@silverdragon102 about my visa it is still tentative, it is either employer working visa or residency visa since my mom is processing her citizenship, but she's already a US resident visa holder. Got any ideas?

There's a step-by-step licensure instructions here (just read thru the forum) for IL only, it's got the time line and cost as well. Good luck!
