I am a foreign grad nurse and have passed the IELTS exam, I am currently in the United States to take the NCLEX in California, I am not holding a license from my country of origin, which requires a license to practice nursing. If I pass the NCLEX, would California Board of Nursing require me to have a license from my country of origin before they release my California license? Will I be able to work in California even if I am not licensed from my county of origin?

When did you apply? Didn't you made a letter of explanation why you didn't have a phil. license when you applied?
I made a letter explaining to CA Bon why I didn't take my license in our country. They accepted my explanation, in fact, I already have my ATT & will schedule my NCLEX soon! My concern is, Will I be able to work in California even if I am not licensed from my county of origin?
Yes. They won't accept your explanation and grant you the Eligibility letter in the 1st place if they aren't gonna allow you to work there.
Thank you very much!!!
by the way, I will be taking NCLEX this month... If i pass, how long will i be able to get my green card?

The BON does not issue greencard. It is your petitioner/sponsor (hospital or agency) who will apply it for you.

You are looking at quite some time, you will be waiting at least two weeks, if not longer just to get your results. You will need to get a Visa Screen Certificate, and that will take a few months, if you have not already sent for it.
Green card is completely a separate process from getting a license and has its onw set of rules. You must be in the US at least 90 days before any attorney will file your petition for you. The law says 60 days, but many have been denied because it is actually in violation of Immigration to come to the US on a tourist visa with the sole purpose of staying and not returning home.
You must find an employer to hire you, they are the ones that start the process, you cannot apply for a green card on youtr own. You are looking at about five months total time before you willbe able to begin work. And you will not get a CA license until you have been thru the immigration process and have received the EAD and therefore the SSN#, which is required for CA BRN to issue you a license.
Probably about one year before you get the actual card in your hand from now. you can start working after the 5 months, but you cannot leave the country until you get the actual green card, or have an I-131 filed on your behalf, once your petition is approved.

I am currently thinking of using this process - Adjustment of Status (AOS) to get a GC. However, I am still weighing the risk. It seems to me that consular processing is easier and less risky.
After I get my GC in about a year, I will file a petition for my husband and son to join me here... how long is the process?
