Foreign Educated Nurses already working (or in process) in the USA, help!!

Hi Nurses!

I have a question regarding the licensure in the state of Illinois for Foreign Educated Nurses (But I know some states have similar requirements). Basically they give us 3 options for the proof of education equivalency (see at the end of this post), my question is which one (in your experience) takes less time to have. The price is not really a problem (I know prices vary), I just want to try to ''accelerate'' the process as much as I can. Thank you so much!!!!

P.S. IF ONE OF THE OPTIONS YOU CHOOSE IS THE CES REPORT, THEY OFFER TWO AGENCIES: Which one is better? CGFNS or ERES?

PROOF OF EDUCATION EQUIVALENCY IN THE FORM OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:

Credential Evaluation Service Report and Proof of Passage of either TOEFL or IELTS; OR,

VisaScreen Certificate (original), OR,

CGFNS Certificate (original)

CES Report

The CES "Credential Evaluation Service" Healthcare Profession & Science Course by Course Report must be obtained through one of the following credentialing service vendors:

Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) (Request a Nursing and Science, Course by Course report. Request the "Full Education" report only if you think you will be attending graduate school in the United States some time in the future.)

Education Records Evaluation Service, Inc.

(Request a Nursing Evaluation and Course by Course report.)

THE DEPARTMENT WILL DOWNLOAD THE CES REPORT FROM THE RESPECTIVE AGENCY WEBSITE.

Depends if you plan on doing further education once in the US. If you do then most schools require CGFNS CES report

Well, to get my nursing licence, I needed to have VisaScreen (depends on the state). To get VisaScreen, I had to get CES. The catch wad they didn't tell me I had to, so it delayed everything by months and hundreds of dollars. I say, contact the state board of nursing you are interested in, ask them what they need.

Oh, and with cgfns, the biggest issue with time is just hounding them. Call them like once a week to check on progress. Otherwise, they just drag and drag. Mine dragged so long my application expired, and I had to pay 500$ or so to reopen the application.

Agree, you'll need both CGFNS Visa Screen and CES report if planning to work on employment-based visa.

Is the credentialing evaluation companies, evaluation is it different than each other. What is their base calculation when they compare with College credits in The States, do they evaluate credits differently?

Thank you anyone..
