Hi everyone! I'm wondering if there's anyone that has the same case as mine. I am an foreign educated nurse (Philippines) who is now Canadian citizen and licensed and working as an RN here in Ontario, Canada or 3.5 years. I would like to work or get licensed in USA.
Here are my questions:
1. Do I still need to renew my Philippine nursing license for CGFNS reference? My dilemma is i haven't renewed my license since 2012 so it would be a lengthy process if I do need to.
2. Is there any way I can bypass the English proficiency? Maybe get a certificate that method of teaching and materials were delivered in English? -- Can't CNO just submit my language proficiency result to the licensing state?
3. Any Canadians there who moved to USA? What were your experiences with regards to finding employer/recruiter or migrating?
Any response would really be appreciated. Thank you so much!
Ok got it! Thanks! Finally somebody who actually made a helpful comment. I've read some threat about IEN in Texas got exempted because they were able to provide certification that English was the language used in teaching and textbooks used in the nursing program. Not that I want to bypass the English exam, but it would be nice to save time and money. But I think I'll just do it either way since majority of the states require it.
Correct I was going to mention that about Texas earlier but they are 50 states to choose, Recently decided to not ask for a Social Security number either. I emailed them and they are too scared to respond. The truth is you can always sight Freedom of Religion for a reason not giving a SSN in USA. And in Texas I have noticed things that require a SSN, you can always get around that by signing a form stating you don't have one. I have done that at the Texas Department of Safety for vehicle purchases.

To me it's pretty silly to require a person from Philippines to take a English Exam. Business is conducted in English in PHilippines.

I would disagree... I have met some Philippine nurses when I lived in the UK and their English was bad and a few was given free lessons to help them improve so they could pass the English exams and not have to leave the UK because the NMC would not issue a full license... It is like anything some are excellent and some are not but everything has to be met.
Both the UK and Canada require people to take English exams even when English is the first anguage
You probably have the answer already but I am a Philippine grad RN, on TN status in the USA.
You will have to do your visa screen from CGFNS to qualify for the TN status or even the green card. VISA screen requires verification of ALL licenses held current and previous, expired or active. You also need to do english exam. I am in the US as a traveler and my Canadian experience for 3-4 years helped. Emergency medicine is quite similar in both countries.

Philippines was US territory until US granted them Independence after WW2
I didn't say your comments were not helpful. It's just that some previous comments (not you) sounded condescending. But hey I might have taken it in a different way or so. I appreciate all the comments here regardless.
I mentioned "USA" coz i'm still deciding which state to go for. I've been considering Texas, Nevada and Minessotta. I've done my research for each state, and still gathering all the requirements.
And I was wondering if somebody had at least a similar situation as mine, i'm not saying that I would just rely on other people's experience/words.
Anyways, I'm just saying my point and why I made that comment. And I appreciate everybody's insight.
