Was the course book enough for the Boards or did you guys use something else. I'm finding it hard to go through two books at once (Saunders and Kaplan). For some reason I think it's not enough. I would like to know in order to stick to one book.
Thanks Suzanne, I really like Saunders. It's really explicit!

hi nursing 101, like you i studied both. but i finished first the saunders q&a, then the course book of kaplan. (but not all)
saunders is really of great help, esp. it deals with each topic and easy to comprehend.
when's your exam date? :)
oh, aside for the saunders q&a book, i also practice questions to cd (saunders, lippincott, kaplan's trainer, springhouse) i got ample time before the exam that's why..

I took the Kaplan review course, but didn't really l like the way it was taught. I did use the cd that came with the book, and used the book as a backup. Honestly I didn't use the book that much. The cd really does simulate the NCLEX. I feel this CD was a big help. Maybe do a test or two a day. The last one is a full 150 questions, so it'll take awhile. I also used a Lippencott Book, I really liked this one because it includes rationales. I took boards last year, so I am not sure of the updates this year, but Kaplan CD helped me a lot.
Good luck to you.
I have not set a test date yet! But I am shooting for the beginning of August. I just started to study (been lazy!) So I don't want to hurry myself. I think I will study from Kaplan and if I really need some more explanations I will take it from Saunders because they are really explicit in their explanations.

I took my boards monday and I used kaplan and saunders. But the last week before the test I used Learningext.com. This is the company that writes the nclex. It is an online course you can sign up for for 3 weeks to 3 months. It saved me I think, because they have a whole section on priority, and that was what my test was all about! And I just found out I passed this morning!!! So, I really believe it makes sense to study kaplan and saunders, but you NEED to do learningext.com, it is called the nclex 2.0 I believe. The questions are formatted the same as the boards. Good luck, but don't put off the exam too long, strike while the iron is hot!!!

I did the Kaplan review. I also bought all kinds of other books. However, it got to the point where I was feeling overwhelmed by all the books so I narrowed it down to the Course book that accompanied the Kaplan review. It was so much easier to stay with one book.
Good Luck
