Came across this and thought we need a little humor during out frequent breaks from studying......we need MORE breaks than the youngens.....you know what I mean
Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things.
The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1987 . They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.
Their lifetime has always included AIDS.
The CD was introduced the year they were born.
They have always had an answering machine
They have always had cable.
Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.
Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.
They never took a swim and thought about Jaws!
They don't know who Mork was or where he was from
They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".
McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.
They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter
Save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate
Let's just say we have a considerable age gap.Hey, speaking of elevator music...Is it a sign you are gettin' older if you know most of the lyrics to the instrumentals they are playing?
That doesn't mean you're old.
It means that someone cool has finally been hired to choose the songs. :lol2:
I was talking to someone about aliens the other day and I jokingly said Nanu nanu earthling and started laughing, that is when I noticed I was the only one laughing haha! No one knew what I was talking about. I think the worst was one day I was singing Crazy by patsy cline and someone said what is that you are singing I said patsy cline and they said who... Oh dear.

Our micro lab assistant is also an "older" lady and she had the radio going this morning in her utility room....we needed to something in the room related to our lab work.......another student and I were able to identify the "late"70's song....the younger ones had no clue, including our 32 year old professor;)
Thank you for giving me a chuckle. So true! The other day I said to a classmate something about 'Laverne and Shirley' and she looked at me and said "who?" YIKES I FELT OLD. I guess I am getting old. When I went to school we had to wear pants. No shorts. Shorts were considered improper. Did I mention it gets up to 112 degrees here?!Anyway, some sober thoughts about the generation growing up now. Terrorism is a part of life. They have no expectation of privacy.
On a more pleasant note, I can remember when there was no such thing as cell phones. Remember the first cell phones that came out? They were the size of a refrigerator! :rotfl: Ok, well maybe the size of a shoe box. Ok a little smaller, but still!
Make me think of the TV show "GET SMaART".....the guy with the shoe telephone LOL.....I grew up in Germany and it was a very popular American TV show that we watched religiously.....and "BONANZA", "I DREAM OF JEANY" "THE FLINTSTONES" and "THE JETSONS"............... those were the good old "cold war" days

Speaking of "The Jetsons"...did everybody else think by the time they were old enough to drive we'd all have our own personal "space traveling" vehicles -you know...just like "The Jetsons"!!!??? I did!

I remember just being totally mesmerized by the whole idea of the robot doing the housework
