For those who didnt pass the nclex..

Hi, im not sure if this is the right forum for this but I just want to ask those people who didnt pass the nclex, what kind of job can we apply to with our bachelor's degree. Ive tried applying as a nursing assistance or patient care technician in my area, but they require a certificate for that. I was thinking of taking ekg training or something just so I can get a job at a hospital. Any advice would be appreciated. thank you

Nursing is a small world. If he encounters a former classmate then what? If he gets licensed in a few months how to explain 'forgetting' to mention he had a nursing degree at time of application. Is it a guaranteed problem? No but it is a risk to be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to leave off completed education. IMHO not the same as leaving off every school you may have taken a class at over the years but didn't graduate from.

Recently I've been asked for transcript copies and final grades when interviewing/upon job offer especially if a Medicaid or Medicare accepting employer.

It's something to consider.

both of you guys make a strong point. i was also contemplating before if i should put im a nursing graduate. when i first applied i put i was graduate of nursing and only got one job interview, it was for a transporter. i never got the job after thr interview.. now i revised my resume and put 'currently studying nursing' and im still waiting for a call back.. its been two weeks now since i started applying..

Awesome point. And I do mention past studies in interviews if its a diverse place--I figure it may set me apart, but I don't put it in my résumé.

Studying nursing is a good strategy...I dunno. It's just sticky!!!!

I've seen people fired for not being honest on job applications. I would include education, and state something like I am studying for the NCLEX, especially if the positions are in the medical field. Might apply to nursing homes, ALF's. in some states, not sure about MI, you can challenge the test to administer medications in these areas. That experience would be amazing to have after you pass NCLEX.

whsat do you mean alf and challenge the test. when i applied i just put that im bs nursing graduate and i no license.

btw, i have an interview this week for cook position and barback position. i know its not in medical field but its a job and their the ones who responded to my application. unlike those hospitals that i applied to, turned in 100 applications to different positions and all i get is an automated reply thru mail stating that im not qualified or their interested on other applicants... if i get the cook or barback job it would be a great part time job while im studying for nclex pn

Hi, I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I have taken the nclexrn 3 times already. I graduated 2011 and ever since then I have only been reviewing for nclex. After failing for the third time last may 6, I decided to start looking for a job. I havent received any replies from the hospitals and facilities that I have applied. Im thinking of maybe taking a training just so that I can start working at a hospital. What I have in mind so far is ECG/EKG technician or Patient Care Technician.Do you guys have any advice about training for ECG/EKG technician? like online or live class? and also is there ANY OTHER job/ training that I can take so I can start working in a hospital. Thank you

ALF--Assisted living facility. Challenge the Certified medication aide or Certified medication tech test--you can find out by checking on your states board of nursing website and asking the BON how you would go about challenging the tests. If you pass the tests, you could pass medications in various types of facilities and at least make a better salary.
