My new position is Monday through Thursday 9-5 and a half day Friday. No weekends or call.
After years of doing 3-4 12 hour shifts each week, I can't wait to be on a more "normal" schedule. Although it's 5 days a week, I get to wake up at a resonable hour and also be home at a respectable time to still enjoy my family.
I used to be 12's, 10'sand 8's in a busy UC. Working 12-15,shifts a month, but lots of evenings, and weekends, holidays. Now in a academic center 4 days a week combination of hrs with a total of 80 hrs every two week. Painful part is doing rounds at 0600 or so in the morning......we will see how long I can keep that up!

One of my major life goals is to never work full time. Or at least, never work 5 days a week, 40+ hours. I would love to work something like 3 10 hour shifts or maybe 3 12s. I am starting my second semester of an FNP program and am really getting cold feet. Is this kind of schedule likely to find as an FNP? A new grad FNP? I think I've seen those types of hours in the ER, but I have no interest in that.
Thanks for any input!
