Ok - who are you, what do you do, where abouts in Florida do you live (or if you are not in Floirda, what part of Florida do you want to move too), what is your clinical area, you status (CNA, LPN, RN, Student, Whatever) and anything else you might want to add.
Some of you already know me, I lived in Florida for a little over 20 years. An RN, I worked and lived in Sarasota. Went to nursing school at Manatee Community College and also University of South Florida at Sarasota. Great place .... love the beaches and the area is truly a wonderful place. I generally work surgical recovery and while in Florida, I worked in post open heart step down and also worked as a nurse manager.
I am a single dad raising three children (all are now teenagers - whew is this rough!). They are really great kids and I am a very luck father to have them.
Next ...... :chuckle
New to the forum and need to add onto the FL Roll Call. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL. I plan to start my pre-req's in May and then an accerlated BSN program the following May, either at UNF, UF Jax, or JU. Will apply to all three programs, UNF being my first choice. Nice to meet you all!!
hi i'm pretty new to this site and i am just thrilled that i found it. i am a pre-nursing student from southwest florida. my first idea was to do the lpn program at charlotte technical center, but $$$$ became a huge hurdle. so... i am going to start with cna (more within my price range) and go from there. registration is in a couple of weeks and classes begin in march. i am definately interested in forensic nursing but haven't done too much research on it yet. i figure i have some time. i have been finding a lot of useful information in all the forums and can't wait to begin my journey. any and all advice is welcome and much appreciated by this newbie
welcome!
you have a great start.
i am also a graduate of charlotte technical center, but when i was going we called it charlotte vo-tech.
i started as a cna/pca which qualified me to do homecare, nursing home, and hospital as well as agency.
i did all but nursing home (ltc).
i wanted to do the lpn but could not fit my schedule or my attitude into it.
17 years later i went to edison college to get my asn-rn.
i graduated 6 months ago and am working in the er, but am thinking i need cardiac experience, so i may be transfering to the cardiac floor to get more tele experience, then go back to the er after my 6 mohths of cardiac.
it has been quite ineresting...
good luck and i hope your path guides you to what your dreams take you.

Thank you for the encouragment! Do you know which hospitals in our area hires CNAs? I have been told by a few people who work at PRRMC that they have no use for them there.
and may I add good luck to you in your continuing education :)

IF YOU LIVE IN CARLOTTE COUNTY,
FAWCETT IS NOT A BAD PLACE(ACROSS FROM PRRMC).
DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT FOLKS HAVE TO SAY GO THERE AND CHECK IT PRRMC THEN DOWN THE ROAD SOUTH IN PUNTA GORDA, THERE IS CHARLOTTE REGIONAL.
I WORK IN VENICE, AT VENICE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER,PRRMC'S SISTER HOSPITAL NORTH OF ALL THAT...
INTERVIEW TAKE A TOUR OF THE HOSPITAL AND GET A FEEL FOR IT, AND ASK MANY QUESTIONS, WHEN YOU SHOP FOR A PLACE TO WORK.
GOOD LUCK!!!

My Name is Lisa I'm 23 and I live in Port Charlotte, Florida, I graduate nursing school in December 2006 and got my RN license in 2007. I'm 10 months into my first year in nursing, so glad my first year is almost over. I work on a cardiac floor, that gets it's fair share of med/surg pt's, I'm getting my year experience so i can eventually move into Cardiac care recovery or ICU. Currently starting to work on my ACLS. just so glad to be a Registered Nurse!!!!
