FSW Spring 2018

U.S.A. Florida

Published

It's a bit early, I know. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those looking down the road planning to apply to FSW this fall for the spring 2018 program start..

I'm planning on applying to the Charlotte campus for the Evening/Weekend (ANEW) schedule format.

What campus are you planning on applying to?

What classes are you trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?

What program schedule format will you be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?

Did you take the TEAS VI exam and how did you do?

I look forward to the discussion over the next few months!!

I have been using the ATI TEAS® Secrets Study Guide from Mometrix, but I'm focusing on completing this semester and will take it early August. I took the TEA's to see what it's like (some recommend that and some people don't) and I scored in the 60's. My goal is to score in the 80's. The science in my opinion was hard, and the English was tricky. I failed to take a 10 minute breather in between, and noticed I started off strong and started getting tired once I got to the science portion.

I've read so many study tips on how people scored close to the 90's, but that requires weeks of studying. I plan on studying two weeks before taking the TEA's again.

Any study tips?

I crammed for the TEAS in between the spring and summer semesters this year. I spent two and a half to three weeks study in total and I used only the Mometrix secrets book. I managed to score an 89.3% overall. Math and A&P are my strongest subjects which really helped.

Some study tips I have to is to for sure take breaks between each section. Even if you just walk around for five minutes or grab a drink of water. I feel that really helped me. Also, I suggest reading through all of your answers before you officially submit the exam. Take all of the allowed time per section to verify that you checked the right box. I corrected a lot of questions I originally marked wrong due to rushing through it or misreading the question. I'm sure you will do much better next time around.

Canegurl07,

Thanks for posting that. Its important that future applicants know that they will need to have A&P II completed in order to apply as of spring 2018. Sorry to hear that you won't be able to apply this fall. Did you already take your TEAS?

Are any of you guys planning on working part-time while in nursing school? If so, where do you plan on working?

I plan on working part time. I'm not sure where exactly, but I am debating on becoming a CNA while I wait for the nursing program. I'm a MA (not practicing at the moment), but being a CNA is more flexible.

Is anyone planning on living on campus? I'm so happy they have student housing, but I'm looking for apartments off campus, just need roommates if I get accepted.

I too considered becoming a CNA prior to the program as a way of working part time during nursing school. I even took a prep course for the Florida CNA exam. However, I've decided that it's not for me right now. Since I'm working full time, in school part time, and have a baby due to be born next month I don't have the time and energy it will take to perfect the skills to pass the exam (and be a responsible CNA). From what I understand, the first semester of nursing school will cover a lot of the necessary skills for a CNA so I may try and take the exam once I'm through the first semester. I like the idea of gaining some clinical work experience before working as an RN since all of my work experience so far has been strictly industrial.

Hey guys!

I'm also applying for the 2018 spring semester. I live in Naples but applying to the Lee campus as my first choice. I do plan on working part time if I get into the program. Will be taking the TEAS this month so I'm hoping it will boost my points! When are you guys taking the TEAS?

I'm taking my teas September 2nd. I'm curious bc I'm going to try for the spring 2018. If you apply with 6/8 Pre-reqs do you think they will let you add additional classes to your regular classes to finish the rest of your Pre-reqs or courses you need?

Hey Martini. Welcome to the forum! Now that summer is coming to a close I'm hoping we get some more interaction on here...

I crammed for 2 weeks and took my TEAS between the spring and summer semester. It's amazing how much of a difference the TEAS score makes in respect to application points! Are you choosing any other campuses as a backup if you don't get into Lee?
