I know it is a little early, but anyone plan on applying for FCCJ's spring 2010 program?? If I can get my Nat points up and if I do well in Micro this summer , I will be ready to apply!!!:yeah:Finally!!

i turn in my papers today in two different folders. hope it doesn't get lost. i received my uniforms and the pants were too big. i'll have my mom to take it in a bit. i am still waiting for stethoscope. has anyone heard something about the skills kit? i guess i'll buy the pocket protector at the bookstore since i saw a couple of you guys who bought there. well i guess i'll see you guys at orientation:yeah:

I gave birth to my daughter 11/24/09, last freaking week and had to get all my stuff done this week. I've got my uniforms and supplies already. I went to NS Medical Clinic yesterday and had my titers drawn and physical done but was unable to get my immunizations due to the fact that I'm nursing. They told me that as long as I got a note from my OB stating that I cannot had the Tdap or PPD due to nursing an infant but will get them before March 1st I'm ok. With all that being said, I have a question hopefully you guys can help me with...

Can I turn in my paperwork stating my titers were taken and are pending? Or do I have to have my lab reports stating I'm positive for them by Monday? The paper in our packet states that,

"You must complete all required immunizations or furnish proof of positive titers on or before March 1, 2010 in order to begin your clinical component of the Term 1 courses."

Considering this statement, I think just the titers pending paperwork would be ok but would like some insight.

From what I read, you need to at least provide proof that the test was done when you turn in your paper work. Then the March deadline kicks in.

I am going to try and apply for fall. I have only Micro and the NAT to take now, so I'm getting excited! I do have some questions though:

-How do you find out what the acceptance cut off scores are for your semester?

-Is it a smart idea to retake classes to bring up your grade so that your score is higher? (What I mean is, does it look good/bad on your transcript?)

-Lastly, what is an average score on the NAT? I see that a perfect score is 120..is that realistic? What did you guys use to study for this?

Yeah, I have a lot of questions! Any help would be wonderful!

CONGRATS on your baby girl! I love my daughter she's my mini me! Good luck with the breastfeeding I breastfed for 15 months! For the titers as long as you got something that says you had them drawn you are all right! Once again congrats!

The only people who find out the cut off scores are the people who receive a rejection letter.

The only way you can retake a class is if you receive a D or F in a class that's all word of advice you can replace college Algebra with a higher math grade for example I had a B in College Algebra and an A in Statistics they used my Statistics grade to calculate my points. Also if you didn't receive an A in humanities course take another one of those and get an A and they will use the higher humanities grade. Another when you go to turn in paperwork HIGHLIGHT the classes on your transcript so they won't overlook them.

I don't remember my exact scores on the NAT but it was not a hard test its like 8th grade level seriously. I would use the Arco Nursing entrance exam book they have in the bookstore or pick up a 8th grade math book and work the problems out of there. I took the NAT twice and its the exact same test answers and order!

First, no one ever knows what the cut off is each semester. It changes with the number of applicants. So unless someone that didn't get in gets on here and posts what the cut off was, those that got in don't know. I think we are just glad we got in! :) As far as the NAT score, I think my overall score for the last time I took it was 104. I am sure that someone else may be a bigger brain than me and got a better score. I know my friend in the Fall class is a brain so I am sure she got a better score. I always had a few points less than her on tests. :( The first part of the NAT kicks my butt every time or I would have a better score than that I think! I always run out of time because it is the math, shape recognition, and which word doesn't fit mess. I am very slow on math because I always want to make sure I have the right answer with no mistakes. There are 90 questions, so 30 of each, and I always end up with about 5 left of the other two and about 8 to 10 of the math. I always whine that 10 more minutes would get me finished. Oh well, what can you do!!

The next thing is what county you live in. If you live in Duval or Nassau, you won't need as high a score overall as the out of county applicants like myself. If you live in one of the two priority counties and have a total score of at least 195 then you are pretty much in. If you live in the other counties, you want to try and have a total score of 216 or better. As far as re-taking classes, I re-took English Comp and Psych but they were over 10 years old. I think that is the requirement to be allowed to re-take them. I had to have a counselor sign me up and she went and asked someone what the ruling was on the re-taking. She said over 10 years. So I was able to re-take them, all though now that I am in I didn't really need to take them over. I wanted to make sure though if I didn't get in this time that I would have maximum points for the Fall. The Fall semester is when they see the most applications and don't be surprised if the cut off is higher than what ours was this time. I think ours was around 193, I would have to go back to the middle of our threads to see.

As far as classes on your transcript, they only look to see that you have had the pre-reqs and the grades. There really is no good or bad per se. Hope this all helps you, I would have loved a lot more info when I applied for this past Fall. I had to learn as I went so to speak. So if I can help someone else out with a little information then I will.

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty nervous because I recieved 2 C's and now I am really going to have to bust my hump on that NAT to get some high points. I live in Duval county also. If I can pull off getting an A in Micro this semester, I should be able to have around 90 points (not including my NAT). Hopefully I can do it.

Also, the receptionist at Stat-Line Industries said Wednesday that the missing piece to the skills kit should be in by today. I guess everyone can try to call again today.

Whos your Dr. at NS?? I went there on Monday to get mine drawn and when i went back on wednesday to get my PPD read 2/5 were already done! theyre pretty quick.

But I was told by CP that all you need is something showing that you got them drawn and they are pending. I had my Dr print out the lab report.

How many of you received an email acceptance and did it go to your school email or personal email? Is there any information in that email that wasn't in the packet? If I received an email, I think I deleted it by mistake. I've had a lot of junk mail since researching different programs. I really didn't expect to receive the acceptance through email and I had deleted so many different nursing offers that I may have deleted the one that was actually real. Just curious.
