I have seen the random work screen/ weed positive get slammed with the whole gamut of inpatient and outpatient game. Though I think there may have been more behind that than the standard money grab, the issue can be that IPN may only accept the 'recommendations' of thier own evaluators aka 'snake oil salesmen'. I've never known anyone who goes to an evaluation where they've been sent by IPN, who comes out without some kind of contract.

If you are going the route of lawyer before IPN contact, then you are doing it right. You hopefully will at least have some kind of defense against the worst of the unethical behavior (mandating useless overpriced and inappropriate treatment, for example)

With a positive drug test for something that requires you to need an attorney, even if you escape the clutches of IPN, you may consider tending to the issue privately. I promise, this is not a rodeo you want to be a part of. For any reason...ever.

Yeah it was for thc. I had a negative hair test for everything. I can't believe they would recommend inpatient for that!

Without getting into too many details, I do have a good defense for how it happened. I dont smoke. It was truly accidental. I know it sounds like a excuse but thankfully I have a witness. I just had ****** co-workers who told my employer to test me when I told one of them of the incident. I'm just hoping they believe me, even with all the affidavits I have and all the negative screens I feel they just want people in the program, even if they aren't an addict. Has anyone gone through the board without IPN? How long did it take you to hear anything?

Was it second hand smoke? I'm a little fearful of this given I live in a legal state with family members who smoke. I avoid being in a room with them while they do like the plague, but the idea of failing a drug test because of that is very scary.

I am guessing ingestion of an edible. Knew someone in the military who went to a holiday party, ate some of the cookies/brownies, etc. Only one person thought it would be funny to bring laced cookies to the party and not tell anyone.

My friend nearly lost his rank, pay and military career, after being randomly tested at work, two days later. And yes, random. He worked in an area that was known for their dangerous and classified jobs so they were tested often.

Luckily, the hostess came forward and let his CO know what happened at the party. The person who brought the edibles was questioned and confessed. My friend did get a bit of a reprimand, but not as harsh. Basically, he was told, you are judged by the company you keep.

Anyway, sorry for the long story, just pointing out that someone can be totally blameless and still end up in a whirlwind of doo!

OMG that sounds terrible RN1965! Similar situation for me. I'm really hoping I don't get stuck in IPN because of a stupid stupid mistake. I'm glad I have witnesses that signed affidavits about what happened, but all of the stuff I read on here makes it seem that the BON doesn't care if there are people who truly aren't addicts--they want their money =/

No, not second hand stuff. I'd be scared being around it too.

So even with an IPN evaluator that was supposed to not be associate with the system, they suggested one year of monitoring because they couldn't rule out "cannabis substance use disorder". and you're only in remission of said disorder after 12 months without using it.

Does a hair test mean nothing? It was so pricey and I feel like no matter who you go to, they are going to make you go into the circus.

Yes, sometimes I feel like it is a money thing and they will recommend monitoring for that reason.

I know it seems harsh, but, I would seriously doubt ANY evaluator who says they do not have a dog in the hunt. They all have something to gain.
