Florida Hospital Graduate Nurse Program - September/October Start Date

U.S.A. Florida

Hi! Is anyone else a new grad applying for the September/October start date for FL Hospital's GN program? I graduated earlier in July and now I'm just waiting until they open the application so I can go ahead and apply.

Has anyone heard how many new grads they usually hire in ICU? That's the area I'm really hoping to get an interview in.

Let me know if you hear anything ( PM is fine) and ill do the same to you!

I applied for Women's, PCU, or OR. I did my practicum on MIU at South and got along really well with everyone so I'm hoping that helps me out.

Sounds good smalltownhero! And allerina, I think doing your practicum at South will definitely give you a leg up! I hope everyone gets to interview in the areas they're interested in! Hopefully having applied right after the application came out will help all of us too!

Everyone keep posting updates if you hear anything new from FH!

I finally heard something from a lady with HR today! I know it's probably still going to be forever until I potentially even get an interview, but it's nice to know that the ball is finally rolling. She said she's forwarding my app to ICU and ED at all of the hospitals I put as my preference, so fingers crossed! Has anyone heard anything about an in-person interview or setting up a meeting with unit managers?

awesome!! still nothing over here, but ill have patience!

I'm sure you will hear something soon! Does your application show any units that your info has been sent to? Mine does, but it doesn't look like it has been sent to all of the units that I indicated I had interest in. I hope I hear something about an interview soon - I'm trying to be patient too, but it's hard! lol

I applied on August 2nd but left something out and was notified the next day. Three days later I had a resume request and four days later (this was Thursday night I submitted the resume) on Monday I was sent the personality/behavioral screening. I did it today and hope to hear something soon. I finished Role Transformation this past weekend and will have pinning next Monday so I am waiting on my ATT.

I'm in the process of getting my ACLS/BLS but I'm trying to see if my scholarship will pay for it before I shell out the $150 for it. I put down all floors and locations but I would prefer Med Surg, ICU or PCU.

Good luck to you too! It sound like we applied around the same time so you should be hearing something soon! That's strange, I never received a personality/behavioral screening though. I wonder why. What locations did you apply for?

When did you apply? I selected no preference because to be honest I don't have one really. I live in Jacksonville and need to move anyway so I would just move where I got a job. I'm hoping for ICU, PCU or Med surg. Peds would be fine too but I heard hardly anyone gets peds.

I just received the prescreening assessment this week! So excited that the ball is rolling. I'm hoping to hear from a real person on the phone soon. My application hasn't changed as far as the locations go but I would love to be on MIU. I had such a great time there for practicum.

blue1015, I sent in my application on August 3rd and originally got a call from a lady with HR on the 5th, but I missed the call and didn't hear back from her until the 10th. When we talked on the 10th she went over my application, asked some basic questions, and then talked to me about my preferences related to locations and units. Then the day after was when my application updated and showed the different units I am being considered for. I just got a call today from the ED and I have an interview for next week with their HR! :) This is such a long process, but I'm super excited! Once you guys get a phone call from HR, it should all start moving pretty quickly!

allerina, I'm sure you have a great shot at the MIU, especially since you already know people on that unit!

That sounds like it was nerve wracking to wait so long for her to call you back! So no behavioral screening? Maybe it depends on if you select a certain campus? I like the idea of ED but every time I had ED as a clinical rotation it was mostly boring. I loved the up time but there was too much down time for me.
