FIU FNP Fall 2017

Nursing Students NP Students

Hello! So I had decided to create a blog for those interested in the FIU's program for the upcoming fall. It's a bit early since applications are accepted in December. I signed up for nursingcas and tried looking for their program but for some reason it is not listed yet. Not sure if it's because it's too soon but I see other schools listed and it also starts the same time. I graduated last December and currently working full time and I just have an urge to go back to school now. Hope to hear from you guys soon! :)

I'm not sure but I think the curriculum is on Fiu website , he said most initial classes are online then the hard part is clinical hours

No he is not he is doing the Arnp msn only not the combined dnp

From what I've read elsewhere and what he told me interviews are early-mid April , they send an email out if you are invited to interview . He said they ask questions such as

1. Why Fiu

2. Why do you want to be an arnp

3. Any extra curricular activities ( they like clubs and such)

4. They ask a few scenario questions. One they gave him was something like , how would you work up a pt that presented with these symptoms ( what labs , radiology, meds, etc ) and why .

Nothing he said they asked him was way out there. Basically from my understanding , if you have good experience and decent gpa you should be good.

They typically don't like admitting nurses with little exp as an RN as this is advanced nursing and previous knowledge is crucial to succeed, so they weigh this aspect more so than grades. So if you don't have a lot of exp then your grades need to be spectacular to make up.

Acceptance letters after interviews go out by email sometime early may

Again ... this is from what I've been told asking my Arnp friends at work and reading forums.

Do you know of any websites that provide these case scenario questions? Im having a hard time finding them.

Just got an email for the interview!

That's awesome! I haven't gotten any email yet. I turned in my application the last week it was due so maybe I won't hear about the first round of interviews yet.

It'll be up until april 15th. Also check your nursingcas and make sure everything is verified!

Patiently waiting for my interview letter. Anyone here already receive theirs?

Nvm saw they already sent an email to a student. I declined Keiser FNP online program in May in hopes of getting into FIU program in August, hopefully I won't regret that decision. My GPA when I graduated with my BSN was 3.55 but when they did the cumulative GPA at nursing CAS it dropped down to 3.1. I have been a nurse for 10 years so the experience is there.. fingers crossed

How were you able to see your cumulative GPA through nursing CAS? I searched everywhere couldn't find it. FIU was the only school i applied to, hoping to get in and if I don't I might consider applying to UM or just continue working and reapply the following year.

I am pretty sure I saw it in the transcript section of nursing CAS

I went back into it to see how I did it. Go to check status and click on the program you applied for. Since you only applied for FIU then click on that and it will say PDF. Open the PDF and your transcript with the cumulative GPA is there. I called Keiser since I still haven't heard from FIU and maybe there is a chance I will start in May. Bird in hand that's the advise my first nursing director gave me so I am going to go for what I already have. I really wanted to save money on tuition but oh well.
