FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN

Published

Hey guys! Is anyone here applying for the Generic BSN program for Fall 2016? I couldn't find any topics for it.

I'm in the process of applying right now and I just took the TEAS V today! I'm content with my score, but I may retake it. I hope that with my TEAS V score, my GPA, and my extracurricular activities combined that have a good chance of getting accepted into the program!

My stats are:

Science GPA: 4.0

GPA: 3.96

TEAS V Cumulative score: 79.3% :(

Reading portion: 83.3% unfortunately I ran out time on this one and had to blindly guess on two questions!

Math portion: 66.7% such a bad score for me! I had to guess on like 5 questions because I wasn't keeping track of time!

Science: 81.3% I'm so relieved with this score. I was so scared that I wouldn't pass the 62% mark. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

English and Grammar: 83.3 % It was an okay section, a couple of tricky questions. I had like 3 questions on how a word is spelled correctly and those get confusing when two of them look like the right answer!

I would love to hear from anyone else who is also applying for the Fall 2016!

Yeah, I also did mine on the 31st. I guess I just have to wait. Are you all going to do the CPR at school or at another location? I'm having trouble finding places that is around my area but it's hard. I live around the Miramar/Pembroke Pines area if you guys know a place that provides CPR classes at a cheaper price.

I know a gentleman for AHA BLS certs. Retired City of Miami firefighter and former EMS instructor at MDC (he knows a few things about CPR). Nice guy, and he is quick and cheap. If you're interested, email him at [email protected]. I believe he is based out of North Miami.

Guys I am having a problem uploading the "student attestation" Did anyone do it? It keeps telling me "You cannot re-submit an expiring item without changing Date. Please update Date to reflect the date on your documentation."

The date of the file I uploaded shows as today so I dont understand why it says 'expiring' =/

@faerytinkerbelle I uploaded mine and put the date that I uploaded it and it was fine. They accepted it with no problem. If you still have an issue I would suggest calling them. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. I had to call them because the system was giving me that same date error for my ppd and they had to basically reset that section for me so maybe that's what they have to do for you.

I think what it means is that the date you put on the student attestation form should be the same date that you input when you are trying to enter your requirement.

@tanesha thanks I will have to do that if I am still having troubles :)

@13thExpansion - is there a date to enter the requirement? I must be blind since all I see is "submit" I will look again.

@faerytinkerbelle on the form itself there's a place to put the date. I think what it is, you should put the date that you plan to submit it. For me, I put out 5/29/16 on my form and submitted on the same day and it was approved the next day.

Does our bls/cpr have to be from American Heart association (AHA) ? Because mines is from Red Cross and I really don't plan on paying for classes again just because it's not from AHA but complio says AHA so I'm a bit confused at the moment.

You should ask Mr.Yap about that, but if your certification says American Heart Association at the top right hand corner, you should be ok. If it doesn't you may have to re certify again (I had mine from another association and had to recertify with AHA)

Thanks @len95 I'll definitely call and ask. I hope that is not the case because I just spent $90 getting my bls just today and I really can't afford to find another $90 to redo it just because it's not from American Heart Association. I mean what is the big difference between the two.

@len95 If I indeed have to do it again with AHA would I have to take the entire course over or could I take the renewal course?

I'm not sure. You should ask the company. But it depends where you do it. It's basically the same thing though. The place I did it at only charged me $50 but it was an initial BLS course. It was very quick. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes.

@13thExpansion thanks!

@tanesha still ask if they would accept it first. I do not see much of a big difference myself other than the name on the card =/
