FitBit at work

Published

I'm looking into buying a FitBit. I'm looking to the Charge HR.

Do any of you guys have them and wear them at work? Do you recommend a different brand or model? Do you think it's unsanitary or interferes with hand washing? Thanks!

I have a FitBit Zip. I love it. It can be worn clipped to your pants, shirt, bra, etc. I have friends that clip it to their shoe when they bike to count each time they pedal. I have also found it to be very accurate when counting steps.

I am a huge fan of the FitBit company. My FitBit started running the battery down shortly after I upgraded the software on it. I looked on the FitBit site to see if this was a known problem. It wasn't. I emailed FitBit about this. Someone from FitBit replied to my email immediately. They asked me to send them a copy of my receipt, so they could see if my Zip was still under warranty. I emailed it to them. When I looked at the date of purchase, I realized that my Zip was 2 years past the warranty period. I received another email from FitBit within minutes that said they would be sending me a replacement and asked for my mailing address. I sent my address and shortly received an email stating that my new ZIP had been mailed and providing tracking info. I received a brand new Zip within a few days.

I wear the Fitbit Surge. It's the one that is also a full sized watch. I needed a new watch, and I had been wanting a Fitbit, so this was an obvious choice for me. The only annoyance is that I work nights and the steps reset to zero at midnight, haha!

I have a Fitbit Alta. I like the small size and that it also tells me the time. The only thing I've noticed is that it does not accurately track me about 1/2 the time because I am lugging my WoW around and my arm isn't moving. I also like that I get alerts when I get calls or text messages- I can see who called/texted and the beginning of the text (or all of it if it is short enough).

I got my mom a Fitbit years ago to track her activity since she has some health issues. One of the best things for her is that you can set alarms and it vibrates. She had to start taking medication in the middle of the day, but would always forget and an alarm on a regular watch was not loud enough for her to hear where she worked. We set the alarm on the Fitbit and she had no problems after that.

I have a Charge HR: it was a gift from my mom. I wear it to work and haven't had any problems with it--when it comes to handwashing, I just push it up my wrist. I also have a silicone sleeve/cover over it which helps keep moisture out (though it doesn't make it waterproof).

But bear in mind that I'm in psych, so I have a lot less exposure to blood/body fluids than many other specialties. I use hand sanitizers more.

I have the FitBit Charge and like it. The hospital also promoted it to track our steps to meet the cheaper insurance requirements for activity. The FitBit is the only one which communicates directly to our fitness site. It can easily be removed to thorough washing and has stood up to a good wipe down.

I have a charge hr as well and I wear it at work with no problems. I just push it up my wrist when washing my hands. I've heard of people wearing it around their ankle while at work too, especially if they're pushing a cart.

I got fitbit charge. Sometimes if I'm doing some complicated wound care it likes to count those actions as steps... kind of annoying

I have the Fitbit One- I wear it clipped to my bra. Nobody has to know it's there. I also feel like it's more accurate than the wrist-worn ones. A previous employer subsidized fitbits for staff and most people chose the bracelet models. Then they realized they weren't getting steps when pushing wheelchairs or beds (or carts, or strollers off work). The sight of nurses madly pumping one arm while pushing a bed with the other was pretty funny for a while there.

I absolutely love my fitbit. I've had it for 3 years now, and the daily information it provides has been instrumental in keeping my activity level high and weight under control through some health problems that threatened to slow me down.

I just got a Fitbit Alta. I can't figure out if/how you change the length of time the displat screen stays on. I'd like it to stay on longer for when I'm counting a pulse. But I like it otherwise.
