Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency 2017

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone!!

I recently accepted a job at JHH in the nurse residency program on the MICU and I start February 06, 2017. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is starting then/ or around that date? Also what units, when your taking NCLEX and how your feeling nearing the end of school?! :roflmao:

THANKS!!! I did everything you recommended when it came to applying!! I was up late last night lol..I applied for 6 different units so far! So now I wait. I applied for PEDS, ADULT ICU, Surgery, OB-GYN, and General medicine. I really really hope I hear back from them soon! any advice or did you just wait until they reach out to you??!

I just waited until they reached out to me. It shouldn't be much longer now! Just keep checking your application status and email. Wishing you the best!

Where would you be nmoving from. Well let me not get ahead of myself and apply. If I get chosen I will worry about moving. Also, I think I saw on another post that they will be starting at 28/hr I think.

I would be moving from Phoenix, AZ. I'm originally from Maryland so I wouldn't mind moving at all! I think I saw $28 which isn't bad. That's around the amount new grads start around here. Unless you do nights which will easily be over $30/hr. Did you apply yet?

That's funny I was also going to apply to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I'm still applying. It's taking longer than I thought. Did you apply to anywhere around your area.

I graduate in May so i dont kno if it's too early to apply for regular RN positions. Have you graduated? I was sticking to new grad programs then closer to graduation I will def apply at MAYO and they get paid $35/hr to start minimum. I will apply at Banner, St Joseph's and Phoenix Childrens too I just haven't yet.

That's funny i was considering applying to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I'm basically applying everywhere but my number one choice is somewhere in Jersey. Oh since you used to live in MD then you will be fine. I'm on the assessment part of the application. This is taking longer than I expected

I graduate in May also. The Mayo has their application opening tomorrow and closing on the 17th so you better get on it if you plan on applying. I plan on taking the NCLEX-RN end of july

Thats what Im doing too! Im open to relocating but Im def going to apply for all the teaching hospitals around here as well. I want to move back to the east coast though so Im def applying everywhere in Maryland lol. The assessment part did take awhile. What position at Hopkins did you apply for??

Thanks for letting me know about MAYO. Im going to check it out right now..I honestly didnt know if we could start applying now since were not done with school. I plan to take NCLEX in June! Im going to turn in my application at the end of the month/ beginning of april. It feels good to be almost done!!!

That's good there are a lot of residency programs around here. I applied for PICU because I ultimately want to end up in the NICU but I don't think the hospital has NICU positions. I want to apply for other positions but is there an assessment portion for each position?

Im applying for MAYO right now! Just to let you know today they posted two new grad residency positions. Starting at $30/hr with a $6.15 shift diff for nights. One is on the Med surg floor and the other is ICU. I really want to do ICU but im going to go ahead and apply for both right now. I didnt see any PICU positions for hopkins. I have applied for PEDS, surgery, oncology, general medicine, adult ICU, ICU, and OB for Hopkins! I hope I hear back soon. Ill keep you posted.

Oh thanks for letting me know. I have to do that one too. Did you do an assessment for each position you applied to?

No you only have to do it one time. So after the first app you do it should be quicker going forward.
