Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency 2017

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone!!

I recently accepted a job at JHH in the nurse residency program on the MICU and I start February 06, 2017. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is starting then/ or around that date? Also what units, when your taking NCLEX and how your feeling nearing the end of school?! :roflmao:

Congrats on your interview! My advice is to practice generic interview questions before hand. Pack a separate bag with your scrubs and shoes inside for your share time. Try not to be too nervous, you got this!!

Thank you Shalbal!!! Im definitely going to be prepared. I have time to prepare for it. My interview is scheduled for April 28th. Ill keep you posted :D

Hi, I will be interviewing pretty soon at JHH. I am currently living in NC . I've been trying to do some research on the unit to prepare myself. Does anyone have any tips for the interview ? That would be greatly appreciated :) !

Congrats !! I have an interview next month too. I have to fly in as well. What unit ?? I've been doing a lot of research on JHH, the unit and what they do and mock interview questions as well as YouTube for nurse interviews!

Just an update! I was offered the position in the MPCU/Nelson 5. I start in August :)

Yay congrats!!! I have a friend who was offered a position on that unit as well!

Thanks!!!! I'm so excited and still in awe that I got it. I'm starting in August. Do you know when your friend is starting??

Order your scrubs early because they take a while to come in. I believe she starts on July 31st. When in August do you start?

How early should I order my scrubs? The nurse manager I interviewed with. Well actually she's the associate director said she had 20 ppl I believe starting in July so I'm the next class starting Aug 28th so tHats fine for me! I have to relocate, take n CLEX and all that so it gives me some time.

Hi,

Congratulations to you all on passing your NCLEX and getting your dream jobs. I hope to be there soon. This thread has been really helpful to me. I am graduating in August 2017 by god's grace, and I am also looking to apply to Johns Hopkins' new grad positions. Any advice/tips in regards to application? I have created a profile on their hopkinsnursing.org website and familiarizing myself with everything pending the time. I really do want to get a job here, so any advice will be helpful.

Good luck on your NCLEX if you're yet to take it. You all will do exceedingly great!

Erinicoleb08, mine took about a month to come in so you can average when you'd like to order. It might be better to order now so you'll have them when you're ready to relocate to Baltimore. I agree Aug is a good start date. You don't wanna feel pressured to get everything done in time for July.

I would say take the time and effort to make your resume and cover letter really nice and professional. Customize resume and cover letter to match the position your applying for. Check for postings daily that new grads are eligible for. Follow up after u apply by calling nurse recruitment possibly. Apply 2-3 mo before grad.
