First 3 weeks of class...

Hello everyone! I start lpn school ( with no nursing experience!) in late August and my orientation is in early August but I can't wait to know what the first three weeks are going to be like ( I want to be able to prepare as much as possible). I was told the first three weeks is class then you start clinical, which seems really soon to me?!? I was wondering if anyone been through lpn school or knows what I am getting into and could give me a heads up on what I am going to be doing!? :o Thanks for your time!

I don't know anything but I am gonna be in a similar situation(will know if I got into the RN program sometime this week) I have NO nursing experience at all :o Good luck!!!

Congratulations!!!!

I've completed the first 6 weeks of lpn school.

first up: two weeks of computer application(word) and math review. then anatomy and physiology-lots of work!!; practical assessment-theory first, then BP-regular method and others, respiration temp., weight, pulses, etc., handwashing, etc.; intro to nursing-lots of history, theory, then on to communication +; nutrition-just basics and special diets. that's our first 12 weeks.

they put A&P right up front to weed out those who will not work, cause pharmocology is in the next 12 weeks, i think

you'd do well to buy a simple anatomy and physiology book and study it-it's the most work-lots of stuff that needs to be memorized-bones, muscles, etc

lot's of fun-

i love it!

i'll be looking for you!

Good luck to both of you!! :balloons:

First 7 weeks of my first semester of the ADN program was

classroom/theory and lab. the labs were learning how to do ADLs, transfers, foleys, etc. then clinicals started

thanks *lisa*, I hope you get in! I was enrolled in a RN program last year but didn't have the money to go through with it. Most of the people there already had jobs in hospitals or nursing homes which made me a little nervous but hey..there is a first for everything! Good luck!

congratulations to you too, summerland5! Sounds like you really like it, I think I will too! Thanks for the heads up! good luck and keep working hard!

It sounds exciting moongirl, i can't wait! Thanks for the info!

thanks so much for your note!

it's like they are trying to kill us down here-nearly demonic,

but...

i've decided that our instructors are actually angelic-they don't want anybody in nsg who won't work to the exclusion of everything else, if that's what's needed!!

they tell us we'll be able to get bsns without working any harder-every page in our a&p book in 12 weeks!!

best to you all-keep us posted!

i went went through a whole A&P book in 10 weeks and now i gotta go through the whole Micro book in 5 weeks, so i feel your pain

Hi.

I'm in an ADN RN program but I just wanted you to know we started clinicals after our 3rd week. Everyone was really scared, too! But, it was really OK. It was in LTC and all we did was AM care ( bathing, bedchanges) and assessments w/ vitals. Then we would assist them to lunch, etc. We were only there for 3 hours. It went by really fast! You'll be fine:) Good luck!
