Finished pre-reqs....now the waiting game begins!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Well, all my pre-reqs are done! YAY! I officially ended the semester yesterday. Just waiting to find out my final grades. So far, looks like a have an A in everything, but Human Growth & Development might end up being a B (depending how I scored on the final)

Deadline for Fall/Spring cohort is March 1st. Acceptance letters go out the 3rd week of April. I am going to be a nervous wreck that week!!! I'm working on courses that are applicable to the BSN in the mean time. If I get accepted, I'll have a 9 month to 1 year gap until I start the program, so might as well be proactive, right?

Who else is ready to apply and is playing the waiting game? Let's hear from you!!!! :D

Where I live (California) there is a 3 year wait list/ lottery for the local community college. It's only for an associate's too. That's why I'm hoping to get into the local university for the BSN, which is based off a merit/point system!

I've already been admitted to the university, I'm just waiting for the nursing program :woot:

I finished my pre-reqs this semester, too! I'm applying for the fall '13 semester in Jan/Feb, and I won't find out until the end of February. In the meantime, I'm taking a Stats class that applies toward the BSN.

The waiting is just about killing me. I'm a 5th year student (I almost graduated with an art history degree), and I feel like just I've been in school for so long!

Good luck to everyone! :)

Hey, Shannon...I'm taking Stats next semester as well! I hear ya on school. I feel like it's taking FOREVER to finish!!!

I just finished the min number of prereqs I need to apply to a nursing major for next fall. Very worried about how my chemistry final went, but I guess what's done is done. I know I have A's in Bio, Psych, Soc, Child Psy, and generally in other courses. Chem might be B range but I'm hoping that won't keep me out of the major, I know it's the grade they focus on the most though. =(

It's so inspirinig to hear all your stories. I'll be taking my last pre-req in Janurary and applying to the program in April. I'm 30 years old and I feel like the clock is ticking.

My final prereq grades just posted! My application goes in automatically for my program in January. I take my entrance exam in March, get my yea or nay in April, and hopefully will be starting my program in August.

I'll be taking a couple classes in the spring semester, but to start with, I'm concentrating on studying for that entrance exam.

I am doing the Happy Dance! They just posted final grades and I got a 4.0 in all my pre-reqs...YAY!!!! :D :D :D I thought I had a B for sure in Human Growth & Development. I pulled off a 98% on the final to raise my grade high enough for the A. I'm in shock!

Just bought my books for next semester: Chemistry & Statistics (those are BSN courses...might as well start on them now!) My Stats professor has already e-mailed us the first month's homework assignments and said "I highly suggest you start now over the break". So...looks like I'm going to be doing some Stats in the next few weeks. School doesn't start until Jan. 14th, so I'll take a break and get started a week before.

I will also be doing my Phlebotomy externship at the hospital next semester. In fact, we're on break from our orientation right now. I'm so excited to make some contacts in the hospital while I'm there. Hoping it will help when I'm a new RN grad :)

Hope everyone has a great holiday break! :)

Great job!!! I've seen your posts through out the semester and know how hard you've been working.

Thats amazing 4.0 I just got my grades back from this fall and I got the same thing:woot: but I'm actually writing essays to apply to the nursing schools I want to get into. The goal is to have them done before the spring semester starts have tutor read over it for grammar and send them in.ooo and I'm also applying to other schools so I'm waiting on admission to tell me if I even got in to the university before I get my hopes up on getting accepted to the nursing program. Are u applying to other schools or just ur home school.

Thank you so much, Zoe!!!:D I took 17 credits this semester and it was a LOT of hard work. But I'm so glad it's over and it went well.

Eauzirus: I'm only applying to our local community college's RN program. They have, by far, the most highly regarded RN program in the area. Even more clinical hours than the BSN program at the university here! I am also working on courses towards the BSN while waiting to find out if I'm accepted. If I don't get in, I'll apply to the university's BSN program in the fall (they take applications twice a year). I wish I could apply to their program in May as well, but I would have to complete Pathophysiology and Nutrition first and I can't take those until the summer.

I just finished my Pre-Reqs so now I can do the fun HESI and TEAS-V tests so I can apply to my 2 program options, 1 at the university I'm currently enrolled at and the other is the local community college. My GPA is 3.54 so I'm hopeful that is pretty good to improve my chances but I also know a lot who have better grades. Still hopeful, and have about 5 more months before I can have a good idea about what I'm able to do!
