  1. Congrats on getting In!! I also am waiting on a lot of information from my program. So far I know that our orientation is the Saturday before classes start, and I'm registered so I sort of know my schedule minus skills lab/clinical obligations, but all the "other" stuff needs to come soon! A little over 2 months to get everything accomplished, but some of that time is already blocked off to have some sort of a life and a little vacay time without worrying about things to do!
  2. I took the online Nutrition class through UWF last summer, it's fairly manageable but fills up quickly
  3. Hi everyone in class of 2015! I'm super excited to start my the last 2 years of my BSN program in August. Our orientation is the Saturday before classes start, and since getting my acceptance letter in early May I haven't heard anything of what we need to have done before then, but I'm anticipating physical, drug screen, background check, all that fun stuff. Our program is pretty small with only 50 students, so I think it will be a close group by the time graduation comes around! I also am working on a double minor in Community Health Promotion and Psychology, so I'm used to being busy but I know the next 2 years will be a new kind of crazy. I hope to possibly work in some way with Neurology after I graduate, anything related to the brain is fascinating to me. It's awesome meeting you all!
  4. I have no specific info on when we will find out details about background checks, physicals, etc. I did call Dale Towery in the Nursing Department on Wednesday, and she said "the email" with all the information we need will be sent in a few weeks. I did, however, confirm that the mandatory orientation will be held on August 24. Also, I set up a group to more easily communicate if you prefer. https://www.facebook.com/groups/332386050225284/
  5. Whichever email you listed on your application
  6. I have been accepted as well! Congrats! Can't wait to see you in the fall :)
  7. I know that some of the classes are online, but for the first semester, when I looked up course schedules for this fall, the classes are long, but 1-2 days/week each. For example: Concepts of Nursing Practice is Thursdays, 7:30-9:20, Med/Surg Nursing is Mondays and Fridays 8-noon. Then clinicals/lab may be Tuesday/Wednesday's? My advisor gave me the degree plan they try to follow, and it lists those two classes + Pharmacology, which is online.
  8. I don't know why this post got moved by the admins- I wanted to let you know that there is a separate thread here: https://allnurses.com/florida-state-nursing/uwf-fall-bsn-823176.html
  9. That chemistry course is an older requirement that I was told not to worry about...also, UWF doesn't offer it so since I started out as a freshman i didn't have the option to take it. I believe that the only reason it is listed is that many other nursing programs require a mid-level chem course so UWF gives credit to those who have completed it with the intention to transfer. I only took the fundamentals course.
  10. I'm so glad I found this thread!! The wait is absolutely killing me- I had an 86 on my TEAS, pre-req GPA 3.54...I was told to have at least a 3.4 GPA. I did all the recommended courses, but didn't complete my volunteer hours, only had 52 before the deadline. I'm hopeful but so nervous.
  11. I just reached candidate status a month ago at PSC and haven't confirmed a start date but assume it would be Summer or Fall '14. I applied to UWF...they are accepting 50 this year, and I wouldn't let the lack of volunteering or awards get you down, highest points in the selection process are placed on pre-req GPA and score on TEAS. I have talked to several of the seniors currently in the program and there is a good mix of both younger, straight through from high school students, but also those who are seeking nursing as a second career later in life. I definitely wouldn't count yourself out! I do know that a 3.4 GPA is recommended for best chances of getting in.
  12. Hey all...are any of you required or "recommended" to take patho as a pre-req?
  13. I am in Northwest Florida and have reached candidate status at our community college (12-18 month waiting list for placement) and submitted my application to the only local BSN program...only 50 spots and I was hoping to have a 3.7 GPA but made out with a 3.54 and an 86 on my TEAS. Application letters by May 17, they say...I just have worked so hard to get to this point and want the effort to pay off.
  14. Just wondering if there is anyone else active here who has applied to the University of West Florida BSN program, or Pensacola State's RN program...looking to connect with people who are familiar with the process and is working towards or waiting on acceptance!
  15. I did not study but have taken the TEAS test within the past 6 weeks which I had studied extensively for...I got an 87.6 cumulative, the A&P section gave me the most trouble but also had the fewest questions.
