Hi everyone!
I went to LVN school years ago but I never ended up taking my boards but because of many hurdles and distractions I didnt end up taking them. I feel like i wasted my parents money and do want to be a nurse. I have the potential to be one and the heart to be one but i am unsure that i can take my boards and pass. I know it will take lots of reviewing and even a reviewing course at that but i want to be a nurse so bad!!!!!!!!!!! my :redbeathe passion is geriatrics and i want so bad to do this !!! yet I have no idea how to get back on track and what to do first.... i feel so lost. if anyone can give me advice on what to do or where to go first pls let me know...
also if anyone knows of LVN review classes i can take in the los angeles,ca area pls let me know. The director of nurses from my previous school will not sign off my papers without me attending any review classes. i feel so crappy about this all...i have been putting this off for too long and now paying for it:cry:f
pls help out a fellow nurse to be!!!
xoxo

Go back to the school you attended ask them if they know a review program. Also there is a program Suzanne has put together - I say go for it!

I graduated 8 years ago and I will pass my NCLEX in 2009 and I will put RN behind my name. You can do it!! I would suggest that you take a review course. I suggest Hurst Review(for your content/questions) and Kaplan q bank for your questions and the Kaplan test taking strategies book. Depending on your schedule you can do it in 3 months. I suggest tons of note cards. I am a wife a mother and I work full time. You can and you will do this. If you need me I am just a pm away.
You also may want to check with your Board of Nursing to see if there are any stipulations.

Each state has their own requirements as far as testing if you have never written the exam before.
I would check with your actual board for a list of review courses that they accept as well. Be aware that the Board is the one that will make the final determination if they will permit you to sit for the exam without retaking courses completely again. And check with your school for a list that they would accept.
HURST is a review for the actual NCLEX exam, but they are not a review in general for the LVN programs and there is a difference in this.
You did not mention how many years ago either and this can also make a difference. It is not just up to your school to sign off on your papers, but approval from the Board is needed as well since they are the ones that would be issuing the license to you.
Best of luck to you.

Your post was encouraging and uplifting. I graduated 3 yrs ago and still struggling to pass NCLEX. I feel frustrated with my last result but i still have the guts to keep on trying but at the present i need motivation to get back in track. I just don't know where to start. I am thinking an online review. But i don't know which one will be best for me. I am a foreign graduate. Please if you can help me with anything...i welcome all advices, notes and study tools. My email add: [email protected] Thanks a lot and God Bless
Same situation with me.I applied in California. Texas is more strict.
