Fingerprinting for Cali RN license

Does anyone know if I can just go to the local FBI office (There is one in Jacksonville, FL) to get the finger printing card and have them do it there to mail in with my application? I requested it from the Cali BON over 3 weeks ago and has never arrived in the mail. Do I need to submit the application and the finger printing card at the same time or can they be mailed separately? Any other suggestions for speeding up the process on getting my license by endorsement in California?

Thanks,

Cody

On the application, it only has enough room to write for 1 school. I received my ASN and BSN degrees. Which one should I list?

I would put my qualifying school. Degrees after that don't affect your license, nor is California interested in examining those transcripts unless for some reason your original degree is deficient.

I flew to sacramento to get my cali license. there is actually a livescan place not too far from the board of nursing.

Just an update, I flew to San Fran last week, did the Livescan l, and got my application turned in! :) Now time to play the waiting game!

I actually had a travel agency offer to fly me to CA to get my fingerprints done and apply! I can't remember which one said that to me, but I declined as I've applied to several other states. So, I'm just going to wait for my fingerprint card (my police station doesn't supply them) and get it done at some point this year. In the meantime, I'll be traveling to other states. The article was a good read to keep us informed of the situation.

Ned, California now requires transcripts from EVERY college attended, nursing, non nursing or non degree. You fill out one form for each school. It's really annoying if you are a second degree student.

I didn't know that but often credits (or prerequisites) towards a nursing degree come from earlier classes. It makes some sense to me for them to do that because if there is a class missing from your nursing program, they don't have to deny licensure and make you scramble. I'm sure they've learned that the hard way.

California was my original licensing state and I suspect my school took care of my transcripts, either that or I was exempt from that requirement because I graduated in California from an approved program. I had relevant classes from two other schools. I know I've supplied transcripts to at least two other states, but I know I've only supplied my nursing school transcripts.

I submitted mine in person and they only wanted transcripts from

My nursing schools... Just FYI....

That's interesting: granted I haven't touched the website since I got my license endorsed last year. When I endorsed the website specifically stated transcripts from EVERY COLLEGE ATTENDED, even if you just attended a college for one class for a prereq, and when I called they reiterated that to me. Granted I also did it by mail.

Just an update, I got my Cali license at exactly 6 weeks from turning in the paperwork and fingerprinting. And I did not turn in any extra transcripts. I'm heading to Santa Rosa, Ca in 2 weeks!

I requested my hardcard from the Cali BON over two weeks ago and I am still waiting (I know this is not uncommon) and growing anxious. I decided to go to my local police station to get my fingerprints done and the only card they had was something the FBI uses. I forget exactly what the form is called. Before I mail it in and submit my fees, I was wondering if anyone else has used this form?

It is the FD-258 and is the same form that California will eventually send you. Yes, they will accept it.
