Finally Here 12 MONTH LPN PROGRAM IN DETROIT

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

DMC and Oakland community college is sponsoring a short term 12 month LPN program through the michigan works agency no more driving to Toledo...classes have already started. Just thought I would spread the word!

Thanks, I am freaking out about getting into the program. I was told that 300 people apply but only 30 get in. I was talking to someone in the RN program and she said that its not really like that, she said that 100 people applied for the program and 60 got in. I am just freaking out trying my best to get A's.

i just love how people blow things out of proportion.

anyways, i tried to get into the rn program in clinton twp. and they turned me down so i figured i would try the lpn, then if i was to get in i would go somewhere else to finish my rn. i got in first try at the lpn program.

there was about 75-80 applicants from what my director told me for the lpn that applied. only 30 of us made it.

the rn program had about 200 applicants and only 35-40 got in.

just focus on your pre-req's, get good grades, you can do it.

good luck.

:)

Thanks, It's always nice to have someone in the same boat as me..lol. I did pretty good in high school but that was 10 years ago. I am doing the same thing going for Lpn then hopefully finish as an RN somewhere else, possible through a hospital. My husband is very supportive and he helps me as much as he can so I am lucky there. I am going to try to get the highest GPA as possible to hopefully ensure I get into the program.

Not a problem. You could always look us up at school if you have questions, we are the ones walking around in white scrubs :)

Did anyone get into the nursing program with Michigan Works, and how many applicants are they accepting?

There are no pre-req's the program is actually 10 months the other two months are focused on cna and pca or moa. After those two months are completed you transition over to the lpn program which is only 10 months. After you completed the program your able to sit for the NET. So the total program is 12 months with no pre-req's.

Jackyo

Why do you need to sit for NET testing after completing an LPN program? Is the program designed so you can directly into RN program once you pass the net; othwerwise would you not simply sit for NCLEX-PN?

My mistake it is the NCLEX-PN.

My sister in law has just started a program like that up in bay city at the hospital.. They put you through the MA program and if you do good and "prove" your self then you go for lpn all within a year.

Do you happen to know the hours of classes? Is it strictly daytime? Also do you have a direct link? I'm having trouble looking up the program. thanks :)

I would like some info on the on in the metro area, I may not get into baker LPN program and need a back up.

Where are you taking your pre-req's?

If you have pretty decent grades and score at least a 72 on the hesi I don't see why you wouldn't get into the LPN @ Baker. I think the lowest GPA they let in was a 3.6.

Def. check other schools, but I really don't think you will have a problem getting in.

Good luck and let us know.

I am pretty sure the Hesi and admission packet is required around mid-june, at least that is what it was when I applied. I found out less than a month later I was accepted. I knew the score of my Hesi the same day. It wasn't too bad.
