Finally Here 12 MONTH LPN PROGRAM IN DETROIT

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

DMC and Oakland community college is sponsoring a short term 12 month LPN program through the michigan works agency no more driving to Toledo...classes have already started. Just thought I would spread the word!

:yeah:I have been research for almost 3 years now and while I was researching I had to retake some science classes because they were 5 years old. I previously attended Baker College Auburn Hills campus to retake these classes. I was excepted at PSI last May but was still undecided in whether I was making the right choice. The only other LPN 12 month program is in Flint but it's not accredited as of yet.

I will be attending PSI this July 7 and I will have completed the program by June 24, 2009.

I am still at little nerves because I have a feeling that something is going to open up in Detroit really soon.

PSI tuition is $16,786 and Brown Mackey is $24,000

I wish you all the best in pursuing your degrees

Hey Carebear77,

you said that your currently in a 12 month program.... what school are you attending. I am currently at WCCC and I doing my req course for the RN program and I looking into a LPN program. If you have any information it would be a great help.

THanks:heartbeat

Hello Morgan, yes I've been accepted into a 12 month program at PSI-Professional Skills Institute in Toledo OH. I start class July 7 and end June 24, 2009. I was excepted back in May 2007 but I wasn;t sure what I was going to do about my current job. I have been looking all over and they actually have a school here in Flint MI but it is not accredidated as of yet. I am on the waiting list (even though this is not the correct term they say) at Baker and Davenport LPN Programs. My deceision to do LPN oppose to just entering into a RN is that I work for Chrysler and I just took the buyout because I knew that I had been excepted into a program so I figured that If I go here and do the 12 months and land a job (which I will) then I can finish the RN excelerated course while working. I have most pre-reqs done also for the RN which I am sure they will add something else by the time my year is up. it has been a very long and sometimes frustrating rode but I will not give up until I am done. Please feel free to ask more...

There's a program in Detroit at 455 Fort St. it's only 10months and its very accelerated it's called the Detroit healthcare career center and it's sponsored throught the workforce development and Oakland University. I was one of the students that was recognized at the mayors state address this past tuesday. So the school is very nice state of the art equipment... clinicals are done at DMC.

how is the program? and how are the teachers? Was it hard getting in? I go to an orientaion tomorrow at 2pm how many students are admitted?

Do you live in michigan? I was received information yesterday regarding the LPN program in ohio- but the name of the school is Toledo school of Practial Nursing. I don't think this is the same place? Does your school have a web site? if so let me know so I can look into it?

Thanks

is this program only for detroit residents? i live in wayne county but not in detroit. i would not be able to attend, if you have to live in detroit.

The teachers are excellent they really are concerned about your education.

I'm not for sure about how difficult it is to get in the program now. But I am hearing that if u have any previous healthcare experience they are not accepting ppl with it. Go to the orientation and let me know how it goes.

The school doesn't have a website as of yet. But they do have informational sessions every week and a commercial thats is broadcast on channel 10 comcast. Again it's called the Detroit Healthcare Career Center which is in partnership with Oakland University.

I believe anyone can attend there's ppl as far as flint mi in the class.

Specializes in OR Peri Operative.

I'm at Baker College of Auburn Hills. It is more like a 10-11 month program. We are half way through now :yeah: I will be done August 21. I did all my pre-req's for RN as well; that is what I wanted to do(RN) but I did not get in to Baker's RN program. I did make it into the LPN and when I graduate I'm going to OCC to do the transition program.

If you have any questions please feel to ask.

Oh if you are looking to get in to the LPN program at Baker I think apps must be turned in by June. You can call to get exact date, I know it is pretty soon though.

Goos luck.

I start class April 7th....I was suppose to start July 7th but they called me with an opening. The test was a little challenging and you have to go through a series of things before being excepted. I am not exactly sure how many they except but I can tell you that If when you go to the informational meeting and at that time you see that you are serious; I encourage you to do everything immediately because they choose on a first come first serve bases.....On thing that''s good is that they have 3 or 4 enrollments a year....Good Luck
