Final Grade D = 74%

Published

I got final grade D on my fundamental and Pharmacology.

I scored 74% which is failing grade in the nursing program.

What is the best advice?

Can I still apply to other nursing school program?

Are you now out of the program? If not, do what they tell you to do to repeat the courses or reenter next term. And meet with the retention coordinator or your advisor as well as the instructors for both courses to get to the bottom of improving your study methods before you repeat the same mistakes.

I missed 1 sem and failed 2 class so I can't repeat the class. The Dean suggestion is to find other Nursing program(other school) or LVN(same school) that will accept me in the program again. Do you think other nursing program will accept me?

It depends on what your GPA is. If you've now failed 3 classes, your GPA probably isn't the best. The majority of schools will not accept credits from other schools so don't expect the classes you did pass to transfer.

And most schools will only accept students who left their previous program in good academic standing (i.e., left for some reason other than failing).

OP, I hate to pile on the bad news, but, while I would never say "never," I would anticipate you will have a hard time finding another nursing program willing to accept you. You may have some luck if some time passes and you are able to show other schools that you understand where you went wrong the first time and what you've done to address whatever the issues are in order to improve your chances of success.

Best wishes --

It's definitely possible to get into another nursing school after failing. I did. Have a plan for success, know your strengths, own up to your weaknesses in your previous program, and be determined to succeed.

Don't worry, things will work out the way they're meant to. :)

I ued to have 3.3gpa now I have 2.9gpa because of failing two nursing class. I'm losing hope. Better try than never.

If you do not earn the required grade to continue on then you do not continue on. It really isn't that complicated. You do not have a "right" to be a nurse. You either earn it or you do not. Many in society confuse "want" with "able". You don't become a nurse (or a doctor) by "wanting" it. You become a nurse or doctor by "doing". You are not meeting the requirements. Either you DO and you continue on..or you DON'T. It is totally up to you. You say you are "losing hope"? What does "hope" have to do with it? If you are unable to work hard enough to do it then so be it. Find something you are able to do.

If you can get into the LVN program at your current school, that is certainly something to consider. Even if you're not particularly interested in being an LVN, finishing that program and getting licensed would offer you a wider range of options for finishing an RN program.

Best option is to try the LPN program , thats what the students in my program who failed out did. It will take longer but atleast you can still achieve your goals.

Any chance that if you are able to go to another school that you would be able to study harder? I feel for you and hope that it works out one way or another.

If I were you, I would try to apply to other schools and the worse that can happen is that they don't accept you. Don't get your hopes up too high, and get your heart set on LPN school, that way if you happen to get in, yay you!! BUT have your back up plan though and apply for LPN/LVN too (in my state LPN), that way you have all your bases covered. You can always get your LPN/LVN and then transfer over to RN later after you get your certification. Good luck!!
