1. What are the materials that you used?

Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN 4th Edition

Just read the whole book and did all the CD questions ^^. I used a few other books and review cards but felt they didn't help much. I felt I passed my NCLEX based on everything I got from Saunder's, highly recommended!

2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

At least 1-2 hours of reading a day, more if I didn't feel lazy, haha. I had some days off, but never more than two days in a row, or I lose my momentum! There were about 4,000+ questions on the CD, so to finish them all within my 3 month study period, I tried to do at least 80 a day. If I got lazy I just did more the next day to make up for it.

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

Three months more or less ^.^

4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

Process of elimination...probably the most important strategy of all. I got a lot of prioritization and delegation questions too, so I used ABCs and Maslows a lot.

5. Take one or take two?

Take one at 77 questions (-^.^)/

Good luck and Godspeed to all future NCLEX-RN takers =)

Read anything I can hold on to. Borrowed Mosby's from the library (did the comprehensives), had Gauwitz, an old lippincott even NCLEX reviewers with so many funny pictures on it, read my pharma book (weakness), fundamentals of nursing and if there's something I need to clarify - Med/surge. In my opinion it doesn't matter who the author is, we're only studying one concept which is Nursing.

With 2 kids (preschools) I've studied on and off. I prayed a lot, studied with my heart on it and enjoyed my kids. It was tough! a few hours after my exam. I started studying again. The agony of waiting was killing me. Got to pay that $7.95 thingy for 48 hrs. unofficial result. Was glad I passed at 175 questions.

For future NCLEX takers, believe in yourself! think positive, pray and please do study. You don't need to spend for those expensive reviews. I'm an average student and passed the first time, you guys can do it!!!

-kaplan nclex-rn exam 2008-2009 with cd-rom: strategies for the registered nursing licensing exam ->finished the whole book and the cd

2. how many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

4-7 hours per day.

50-250 questions per day. (average of 125 questions per day)

3. how many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

less than 3 months. i stopped studying two weeks before the exam. i also did not study on sundays and holidays :)

4. what are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

Just a note for Filipinos doing self-review. Make sure the review materials are up-to-date. I looked over the materials being sold en masse in front of PRC and almost all of them are outdated by more than 3 years.

It isn't worth the savings of a few hundred pesos when you have a career on the line.

That, and the tens of thousands of pesos that it will take to re-apply if you have to test again.

1. What are the materials that you used?

- Initially, I reviewed online using the NCSBN program but I found it too tiring and boring just reading the material so I switched to Suzanne's Plan using the 4th edition Saunders book, which I found more engaging and intellectually satisfying.

2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

- It was dependent on my mood. Sometimes only 45 minutes for the whole day, sometimes I went up to 3 hours using Suzanne's Plan.

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

- Serious review would be a little less than 3 months. All in all, 6 months :D

4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

- A lot of prayers and common sense.

5. Take one or take two?

- Take one at 150 :):):)

I just want to ask about the book of LaCharity which is Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment. Is the book thick? How many pages do the book has? I am planning to buy one if reading the whole book fits my review schedule. Thats why I am asking if the book is too bulky. :p
