many thanks!

hello AD2008! the initial requirements are the usual documents like tor, diploma, board rating, and yes certificate of employment...but they didn't specify the required lenghth of hospital experience..as to the specific region in Canada the employers will be coming from, I have no idea, i just overheard the info from someone when I submitted my docs..may i know how did you go about applying for work in Canada without any help from an agency?..sounds like a tideous process..

why the heck do you need an agency?????????

if you allready applied wait until you receive an answer if you're eligable to take crne and then look for employers yourself.

Hey guys, I just submitted my credentials a while ago to the agency. I just want to ask if how long is the waiting period before they contact you. They said that the employers will come here in April 2009. Although I know that they might call me by april. I am just wondering if there are instances that after employers come here and still no notifications for them for interview, will that mean I should give up expecting from them and somehow pass my credentials again in the future?

Also, I have been thinking if I have a shot of being picked eventhough I only have 8 months of hospital experience (they are requiring 1 year). As of now, I am strivingly searching for a job as a nurse now (slim pickins... hehe). Other than that, I don't have any problems. I passed the IELTS last november. Also, does having a relative in Canada (a brother and lots of aunts) places me somehow an advantage to my application? Thanks guys if you have inputs to these.

Alberta has cut back on recruiting IENs. The economy is not as strong as it was. Local nurses who preferred to work on a casual basis are now taking positions to ensure their families have benefit packages and in order to be guaranteed hours.

SK could also be cutting back.

It's quite possible that by April there will be very few jobs for IENs anywhere in Canada given the current economic picture. Although the agency may have plans for employers to travel to the Philippines in April it may not actually happen. It's becoming more and more unlikely that nurses without the required experience are being hired, even from within Canada, because of the cost of training them. And no, having relatives in Canada does not improve your chances of being offered a job here.

There was just a big jobfair here in UK, Alberta still hiring (don't know which areas though), haven't been there myself. On the other hand those things are planned quite in advance, so who knows.

When that job fair was planned, the finance minister was saying that the provincial surplus was going to be smaller that predicted, by about 50 %. Only a few weeks later she was saying that instead of a smaller surplus we'd have a small deficit. Then two days ago she warned that the deficit was going to be "much larger" than initially expected. Since the provincial government is ultimately the employer - as in they pay all the bills - I think it would be a hard sell to the voters if they spent large sums of money to relocate a large number if IENs.

@ 5cats:

do you think, by any chance, a nurse without experience could find employment in saskatchewan, canada? i hope i get a positive answer. hehe

I don't think so, I know after the first recruitment trip, they wanted more experienced nurses.

It's difficult enough to adjust to a new system with experience, believe me, I've done it allready twice. Best is to contact them yourself to find out though.
