Filipino Nurse - NCLEX application in California

Published

Hi there!

I've just applied online via Breeze.com to take the NCLEX. Now 2 weeks after, I received a letter saying i have to send them additional requirements other than the basic ones I've sent previously with my application. And that includes my 1. COMPLETE record of Clinical cases ( delivery actual + assist, cord dressings, major & minor procedures ) reflecting exact dates, location, name of procedure & signature of instructor, etc. 2. Academic calendar with exact dates of the semester, holidays and sembreaks 3. Copy of clinical rotation schedule.. All these must be sent directly from my school way back in the Philippines to BON here in CA. Ok i understand.. that's what i did too with my transcripts initially. But my concern is that, what if my school can't provide those anymore?? :( Also aside those 3, they also require from me a copy of my clinical rotation booklet/log.. and where the heck am i suppose to dig that up??.. huhu.. i graduated 2007 and its been years.. :crying2: i feel so helpless... came up searching in google for people who has/had the same experience and eventually led me in this forum.. i've read other's posts which says it's kinda hard getting a license here in CA, that maybe they'll have me take MS/OB course too, that I can apply and try in another state and so on and so on.. which makes me even more sad.. i have a baby and it's sorta hard for me to try on the other options.. but still trying to be positive.. anyone who can advise me on things to do next?? i need help... thanks! :D

Goodluck kababayans!!!

Hi kabayan,

I dont know if I will be a help or not but. I graduated at a college in baguio too and when I applied I did it directly with BRN they had me do thesame thing. Gladly I still have some of my C.Is there and contacted one of them, who gladly responded. He told me that it is not easy to look for documents especially when it is almost burried in boxes he suggested for me to send someone to actually help look for them in pile of boxes. It took a day and a half. When it was found it was sent. Well when my evaluation was done I was deficient in MS and OB but included in my letter was a suggestion that I should take LVN and my evaluator would send my transcripts from BRN to BVNPT but all the other stuff needs to be sent from school again, but atleast you already have the file prepared in your school so they can send it easier.

hello MORasks! thanks for the helpful infos.. im happy to hear from you knowing you graduated from baguio too.. atleast we have something in common.. whew! so I guess I have to expect the same outcome as yours then.. "docs buried in boxes".. I know right?? huhu.. =( it's been what. . 7 years from the year I finished school, im not even sure if there are still boxes they can dig in to.. haaay.. good news though that they'll be sending ur stuff to BVNPT once ur not eligible.. so u did LVN then? or still pursued RN and took MS/OB course? and lastly, how will you know if BRN already received the requirements they're asking? I mean, coz documents are coming directly from school to BRN right? will BRN inform me thru writing? that they received this and that? .. sorry I kinda worry a lot.. hehe. . just wanna have an idea. . many thanks! :)

Goodluck kababayans!!!

thank you shakoi. . :)

deal! :) oh for RN coz that's really.. mainly my goal.. but ill let you know what happens after a few more weeks or months of waiting I guess.. according to their website, they are currently evaluating applicants who cashiered in june.. and I applied and paid early august.. so.. it'll take me some time.. if things don't go as I have planned then I hope I can ask u more about LVN? :) and of course vice versa. . so best of luck to both of us! (crossing fingers) thanks ha..

Deal :)

Kababayans, does anyone of you knows how long does it get to receive the declaration papers sent by the bvnpt after the check was cashed out? Thanks

Hi kabayan,

Yes, we share much. The filing system is still primitive so it will be hard. But still some of the BVNPT requirement would be sent from the school and you still need to pay for another fee for BVNPT.

I am gonna take my chances and take BVNPT exam on Oct. And take the classes since a school already offered them. I hope I pass one or/and the other.

My documents was sent through the express mail in a local post office because they are the only one who does not require receiving signature but they have tracking so you track it.

You can also call because they can I guess see it in there system.

Hi MORasks, how long did u also receive the declaration papers? If so how long did u wait for those to come in the mail? Thanks. And one more thing how long was your total wait time from the start of application to the eligibility? Thank u so much... waiting makes me crazy...

Wow that news just made me really happy and lifted my spirit. :) so are u currently enrolled in a review center? Or just doing self review? I got excited I hope I get my approval soon. Though I really need to read a lot and freshen my memory. :)

I hope your application gets done fast too ;-) I am trying to self review using NCLEX by saunders. Me too It is really hard to refresh everything but I hope we pass ;-)
