what should i do? kindly help me please!! thanks a lot.

Each province has their own requirements. The 250 hours can easily be sorted once in Canada and working if that is a requirement of the province, your employer will sign a declaration stating you have meet the 250 hour requirements and then your license will be issued. Alberta has been and still is going through some major changes with their health and jobs there have become very scarce. Other provinces may be different but Canadians or permanent residents will and should get preference to IEN however if you have experience in a specialised area it may make things easier in finding a employer.

Which province was you thinking on working in?

thank you silverdragon...:) im thinking vancouver or toronto, ontario.. my sister is in toronto..

You are welcome and good luck

good day! i have a few questions.. and i hope you can help me out.

1. to be an immigrant for Canada, for the IELTS, General Training is required, for CRNE, Academic is required.. does that mean i have to take the IELTS twice to become both a registered nurse and immigrant in canada?

2. how many months is the eligibility to write the exam valid?

3. can i just apply for tourist/visitor visa to take the exam and go back to the Philippines after? I am currently applying for immigrant visa to Canada, but I want to take the exam first before the immigrant visa gets approved (hopefully). and for instance if I pass the exam, how much time is given to comply for the 250 hours needed to get the license?

thank you very much. I hope you guys can help me out.

1. No, you only have to pass the Academic IELTS for both. You can be an immigrant with just the General one or with the Academic one, but to be considered for nursing licensure you have to have the Academic.

2. The results are good for 24 months from the date they are issued.

3. Yes, you can, but you may be turned down unless you can prove without any doubt that you will be returning to the Philippines when you're done.

4. The only province that currently requires 250 hours is British Columbia. The fact sheets CRNBC has don't specify a deadline for completing this requirement, but they do indicate that temporary registration, which is needed to complete the 250 hours is only valid until March 1 of the next calendar year after it is obtained. It may be renewed under certain circumstances, such as outstanding registration requirements (like the 250 hours) so it's implied that you may have more than ayear to do so. However, 250 hours is only about 6 1/2 weeks of full time hours, so there's every reasonable expectation that it could be accomplished fairly quickly.

thank you so much for your reply... i really appreciate it. But i just have one last question. In the website for Application for Permanent Residence - Skilled Worker (link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp), it states that IELTS has two options for the reading and writing tests: General Training and Academic. You must take the General Training option... I actually already took the IELTS (Academic) because I was planning to apply for the US or for NZ, but now I changed my mind, and I applied for Canada. I am really just worried about taking the IELTS again.. i am really confused.. where can i find information that Canada accepts ACADEMIC for immigrant visa application? thank you so much.

The requirement of the college of nursing is Academic and will therefore be accepted by immigration. Academic is usually required by doctors and nurses plus people wanting to work or study in higher level institutions. (that is my understanding)

FAQ: The Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE)

Please read the dozen or so other threads on the CRNE that can be found both here in the International Forum and in the Canadian Nurses Forum. There is NOTHING new on the topic, believe me.

hello. good day!

i do have questions:

1. i dont have an employer for canada yet. does that mean i shoudnt apply for crne yet and wait for an employer before i apply for crne?

2. what province in canada can you suggest for us to take the crne wherein we can readily find an employer?

1. You do not need a employer to send in your application to be licensed as a nurse in Canada

2. You need to decide which province you want to work (answered this in another thread)
