for nightingale apolonia, you can also check on nursing schools in manila that have hospitals of its own or have a number of affiliate hospitals where the students can have their clinical trainings/duties as part of the nursing curriculum. it is very important to have those actual trainings/duties. not all nursing schools in manila can provide their students adequate exposure to clinical trainings required by the education department and the board of nursing. you can check the internet for the phone numbers of metropolitan hospital college of nursing near the area of bambang, or chinese general hospital college of nursing in laloma area, or de ocampo hospital college of nursing near nagtahan bridge/fly-over, or, as also mentioned, perpetual help college near ust (dapitan street). i heard that they accept 2nd coursers but i'm not sure of the age limit. another big school in manila that accepts 2nd coursers is arellano university in legarda-sampaloc area. another one is philippine women's university (pwu) in taft avenue corner malvar/nakpil streets. if you also consider looking in other cities in metro manila, post the name of the city and i will try to name the schools there that i can remember.

hi guys!!! i'm new here & yup, i'm from the Philippines too. came here to the US last december 2005 & i've been working since january this year in SF. i'm glad to know you guys are actively participating in forums such as this. hope we all could help each other out, whichever part of the world we're currently in!...hehe

Thanks so much for helping me out...sa alabang kaya meron? Actually, our province is san pablo, laguna- it's just so hard to find one coz they don't have websites that i can visit unlike colleges/univ. in Manila. My previous education is allied health too. with 10 units Human Anatomy and Gen. Physiology , etc...-- do you have any idea how long will i still have to go through BSN?Your reply will be greatly appreciated.:biggringi

I've taken some nursing prerequisite units here in the US- and still waiting to get in their Nursing Limited enrollment program - but since my parents are already old and they may need my care - i wanted to go back home and take care of them at the same time pursue my Nur studies there - ( i think Nursing is also caring for our loved ones esp. parents...)- i cant wait to start studying and be in the program since i feel getting old too- it's ok for chronologically younger ones...lol...i have my permanent resident already but im still researching about immigration if i can go back there in the Phils. and stay for a longer time for study. Do anyone have an idea if I should get a Reentry permit?

Welcome!!!!------Hi! is it nice there in California? They say it's like Manila and the Philippines with many kababayans. I miss Jollibee and Goldilocks so much!---We're here in Illinois.

the university of perpetual help las pinas campus is in alabang-zapote road. it has a website that you can search. i don't know its admission policy on 2nd coursers and if it has an accelerated program for those who have an allied health 1st course. schools usually ask for a copy of the transcripts of the 1st course and they will evaluate which subjects can be credited. be prepared also (if they ask) with a copy of the course description from your previous college/s to facilitate the evaluation. anatomy subjects in a nursing program are often taught differently from non-nursing programs. sometimes, non-nursing programs have shorter hours (and no laboratory hours) for anatomy and physio subjects. so, be prepared to be told to take this subject again. anyway, it is a very important subject that can help you a lot to understand nursing subjects such as medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health, clinical practice, etc...

hi to all kababayans. i am presently working in dublin while waiting for my immigrant visa to come through. i've been here since 2001. the irish are a great bunch of people but i just can't wait to get to the states.

Hi! I'm new in this site. I'm really excited to meet filipino nurses in different countries. I just want to know how nurses work in different places.

What now Philippines ... all (a great majority) our student nurses are aspiring to work abroad ... what would our country be left with?

I think there's nothing to worry about...there's always a time for everyone ...not everyone can leave at the same time...;)

hello all. im a filipino nurse also. just graduated this year. my 2nd course. my first course was from up diliman. (anyone here from diliman?) i wanted to take nursing in UP manila but they refused me, saying they will not accept 2nd coursers. i found that unfair. anyway, i graduated march , took the boards in june and opted to finish all the necessary exams before the year ends. im done with my ielts, cgfns and nclex. will be starting work in a local hospital. no pay for 3 months. is it like that everywhere? over staffed, they say. oh well.

hi anansi, what r the schools that u know of who accept 2nd coursers? thanks.
