4th attempt => Kaplan online review and Uworld answered 600Qs only (did not work)
5th attempt => UWORLD answered ALL 2000plus Qs with MARK KLIMEK and 35pages study notes and alot of PRAYERS
It has been an emotional journey for me. It's been a long time coming. I can't believed, I did it with 76Qs. I took my time, studied about 5 1/2 months bcoz I'm not a full time reviewee. As I was starting, I answered Uworld Qs 45items/day and do the rationale and increasing the items as my review moves forward. By the time I'm 2months away from my exam I'm doing 75Qs/day and do rationales. Please, read the rationales carefully and UNDERSTAND it. I studied 4-5hrs/day - DON't over do it! I don't study weekends, I gave time for my kids and do household chores to relaxed.
TIPS: I studied by system so that I can easily remember all the conditions And I can easily identify that Ohh, it's a pediatric disease - Ohh, it's a Psychiatric condition, etc. ( Pedia, Maternal, Adult from Neuro down to Gastro, Psychia, etc.) break it down!
I don't care about my Uworld scores? the more you care the more you get anxious?
3 Weeks before my EXAM
I did MK audio for 1week (I was about to attend his review in Ohio but was not able to coz I can't find a baby sitter for my kids? - it was a 3days review. For those who has the time and interested to attend' schedules are on their FB page. ( Mr. Mark Klimek is the bomb- as I was taking my exam it's as if Mr.Mark is on my ears telling me to chose this answer - I can hear his voice Loud and Clear "I'm not hallucinating guys???" ) TRUE STORY? THANK YOU, SIR!?
1st weekend I did the 1st Uworld assesment ( VERY HIGH CHANCE OF PASSING) did not care about my score - focused on the rationale?
Monday to Friday= I familiarized all the things I need to remember.
2nd weekend I did the 2nd Uworld assesment (HIGH CHANCE OF PASSING) did not care about my score - focused on understanding the concept PLEASE
Monday to Thursday= I browsed to the 35page study notes once. I memorized all the important lab values. Brushed up with my computation and conversion. I tend to do this lasts so that I won't forget.
Friday= went to church and PRAY. Light a candle for guidance. went home and so anxious so I memorized again. It's just me? Wasn't able to sleep early bcoz my anxiety hit me so bad?
Saturday = My EXAM DAY my schedule was 8 am, you are still fresh and full of energy.
➡️ Eat a good breakfast. (Pack your snacks in case you'll be there for 6 hrs)
➡️ I let someone else drive me to the testing center so I can relaxed. I'm 15 miles away from the Pearsonvue testing center.
➡️ leave a little early make sure you'll be there 30mins before your scheduled time (programming my brain that i will answer 265qs. - don't expect to do it at 75)
➡️ No earrings, necklace, watches, Fitbit ( cellphone must be turned off they gonna give you a zipbag for it and put it in your locker) purse goes to your locker as well.
➡️ They will only need 1 Identification card that's it. I saw other people uses their passport for identification. Mine, I only uses my drivers license.
➡️ You'll go through the process and they will call you when it's ready.
➡️ I was called around 8:30 am - did my test - computer shuts off at 76 questions around 10:20 am. I could just imagine my face when the computer turns blue. ( I want to answer more bcoz I was not satisfied and I am not that sure I did great. ) You can't do anything bcoz the computer just shut off ?
➡️ As it sinks in = I know I was on a high level Qs bcoz it has so many SATAs, Prioritization, Delegations, Drag&Drop, etc. All this difficult Qs keeps on popping on the screen. So I know, I was on the game! The only thing is you don't know if your answer was right/wrong. Even you're confident enough you still have doubt.
➡️ As I was leaving the testing room and waited for my ride home. I saw outside that it was pouring rain. It's like blessings pouring down. It's the 1st time it rained on my exam day. (it was a sign I was asking for) weird me ???
➡️ Waiting for the result was terrible. Did PVT on Sunday night. Got the good pop up! I did not do quickresults bcoz I don't want to waste my 7$. Just did PVT.
➡️ Got my official result 6 days later.
*Uworld trained my brain how to answer Qs. It boosted my confidence in test taking strategies.
Please, PRAY PRAY PRAY!! Asked God for guidance. And you'll do fine.
Never give up! I was about to but faith in God motivates me.
HOPE MY JOURNEY INSPIRES YOU ALL.
Good luck to all 1st time takers and re-takers. Stay FOCUSED. ===> GOAL is to be a REGISTERED NURSE???
May God bless us ALL.
GOD BLESS YOU?
YOU CAN DO IT, too.????
Nurse OctagonPie
we are proud of you of passing your NCLEX....keep it up til Doctorate level....
Some quote that i like...
Bill Gates said "I failed my exam in some subjects BUT my friend passed. Now he is an engineer at Microsoft and I am the owner". -Bill Gates
"u try, u fail
u try, u fail
the real failure is when u stop trying"
"we learn from failure not success"
" if you fail never give up because FAIL means :
F:- First
A:- Attempt
I:- In
L:- Learning"
SO my dear Nurse OctagonPie...you are a success....
Leader25....keep trying not to be rude you will succeed
WOWZA!!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!! Putting down how many hours, study guides all that! It's so hard being a working mom and studying. It's given me hope. Currently, my second NCLEX is Friday (there's no way I'm going to pass it)I work as a nurse in the NHS and am also moving to the states. So too much going on this second.
But you have given me hope! Congrats and welcome to the sisterhood of nurses!
