Feeling Appreciated or Under-Appreciated?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I have heard many stories of how some nurses feel under appreciated in the work place by their supervisors or employers on general. I have also read some stories of how some work places have nurse of the month awards, and they are give some small token of appreciation for all the good work they would have done.

As nurses what are some of the things we would like to see implemented in the workplace that would make us feel more appreciated. Does having a nurse of the month award at work really make a help? What else can be done? Any ideas?

Timothy,

I am compelled to ask: Is this a homework assignment? What are YOUR thoughts?

We used to do employee of the quarter. It kind of went away as nominations were few and far between because of all the paperwork we had to fill out to nominate someone.

Honestly, I'd like to see adequate staff, appreciation of those of us who are long timers (less focus on recruitment), decent raises (a 0 before the decimal point is almost a slap in the face rather than a raise), things along that line.

All I need is my paycheck, thanks! :p
