ANYBODY THATS A CNA PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY YOUR SO FED UP!!!! BECAUSE I AM!!

Oogy. I like that -- oogy. I'm going to use that now. Thanks!

Hooking up??? Outside during work??? :barf02::barf01:

I can't think of a less romantic place in the world than out back of my facility - there's the smoking area, the dumpsters full of dirty briefs, and a parking lot.

I'd have to be beyond hard-up to be setting my man-traps out there. Oogy!

Scene 1: Behind a dumpster in a hospital parking lot. Cut. Six CNAs gather for a smoke break. Cut.

Because nothing says romance like a smelly brief filled dumpster.

I'd rather play with a centipede than hook up with ANY of my coworkers.

Barf-o-rama :barf01:

I am so sick of working short staffed.

Why is it that someone from day shift calls in, the night shift person gets mandated. Yet when someone from evening shift calls in, no one from day shift gets mandated. Is it because they think that there are LESS residents to take care of on evenings? Do a few of these residents magically disappear when 1445 makes an appearance?

Management really needs to recognize that they are overworking us. Hello, there is a direct correlation between the amount of sick calls and the extended work days with nary a day off, the mandations and the toxicity there. How about treating the workers like we matter? We are just cattle to be herded around. Wake up, folks! Smell the burn out!

I am tired of busting my butt. Yes, I had a horrible evening shift. If one more person asks me why am I sweating, I will throw a Depends at them.

This is exactly one of my issues. If 3rd shift is short, 2nd shift gets mandated. If 1st shift is short, 3rd shift gets mandated. But 1st shift is gone before we even see how much of 2nd shift is going to show up.

I have worked with 4 aides on the floor taking care of 90 total care residents on my shift, and been threatened with a coaching for not getting the 12 showers (out of 23 residents O_O) on my wing and a half done. TO top it off, when trying to do some of those showers, being griped at that other residents are wet and haven't been laid down yet. Well, I'm sorry, but I can't multiply myself and do a billion things at once. If you want all of that done in my usual timely manner, maybe you should mandate your day shifters like you do the rest of us instead of leaving us at unsafe staffing levels. Or if you fail to do so, maybe you nurses should help on the floor like management specifies that you are supposed to.

Currently, I'm extra annoyed with this, because we average 2-3 call-ins per day (across all 3 shifts), and the workload is such that you can barely get out on time. THen, if you clock out a few minutes late, you get lectured because they're trying to cut down on overtime. Supposedly it's "a 24 hour facility" and what isn't done by one shift is supposed to be finished by the next...but try telling that to most of the old hags on 3rd shift at my facility. When they come in, if you're not finished, instead of coming to the floor to help you, they stand at the nurses station and ***** about how slow you are...even if it takes an hour for you to finish, they don't come to the wings until 2nd shift leaves. Gets old.

Because we are treated like crap(Most of the time) We take the fall,No respect! Short staffed all the time oh and the uppers care more about census then the residents and last but not least last week my job started a policy if you do not clock out for your lunches & breaks then you owe them $25 dollars(*****) And we have to be clocked out exactly on time or we get docked(Double ***)....nuff said.

I can't take the noise! Almost every single resident on my unit is on alarms- bed alarms, chair alarms, seat belt alarms, and those kind that detect motion. I cannot go one minute without that blasted beeping in my ears. We are not "allowed" to unplug them, so even when you bring someone to the toilet you have to listen to the screeching during the transfer until you fumble around at THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEELCHAIR and silence it! Half the time, the damned things are going off for no reason- a resident shifts in their seat BEEP BEEP BEEP, a resident is laying motionless in bed BEEP BEEP BEEP, a wheelchair with *no one in it* all of a sudden BEEP BEEP BEEP! Then those motion alarms constantly dinging because the resident wiggled their toe. I truly think that the noise is the most stressful part of the job for me. When it's time for my lunch break and I'm running down the stairs I feel this wave of catharsis and then once I hit the break room there's a TV blasting, vending machines humming, microwaves beeping, and my stress level goes right back up.

If your management is not familiar with alarm fatigue, they'll be in for a crash course soon. :twocents:

I hear you on the noise, which is why when I take my breaks I get out of Dodge.

Yes, but do they care? If a resident falls and the alarm was going off, they just have to say that they wrote up or fired the CNA that failed to respond to it, and their butts are covered, correct?

ooo call lights that an issue--in the ltc i worked ITS EVERYBODY RESPONSIBILTY TO ANSWER CALL LIGHTS--NURSES(LPN-RN) ACT LIKE THEY R TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD TO ANSWER CALL LIGHTS. LAZY CNAS RUN IN HIDE IN ROOMS-OR LEAVE THE UNIT. THIS WHOLE FIELD IS A MESS. CNAS DO EVERYONE ELSES JOB IN THE BUILDING-TELL THE TRUTH DIETARY SHOULD PASS N PICK UP TRAYS.LAUNDRY SHOULD COME GET THE SIOLED LINEN.HOUSEKEEPING SHOULD CLEAN THE ROOMS AND MAKE UP BEDS.NURSES SHOULD DO THEIR OWN VITALS BECAUSE MOST OF THE CNAS MAKE UP VITALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BAD...BAD...BAD....Making up Vitals? really. I would never ever do such a thing. It is called Neglect, negligence, false-a-fying medical records. LYING. Grounds to be fired and never ever rehired.:crying2:

Running and Hiding..why?

Yes, Dietary should pass trays and pick up.:yeah:

Yes, House keeping should be cleaning the rooms AND bathrooms AND showers AND chairs AND changing out linen barrels. AND restocking linen carts/closets.

RN's, LVN's and CNA's: It's OUR job to make sure that the Patients are clean, dry and happy. Get their pain meds and proper care taken and given and CORRECT documentation is done. NO LYING here.

ADMINISTRATORS: Proper Staffing please. You know better. 1 CNA to 60 People...really? Can you SAY STATE Ombudsman call or at least "rent a nurse"?

Regarding In-Services: don't chew gum and pass out candy ..we are not children..put some effort into your job. really..handwashing...again...for the 4th time in 2 months? :uhoh3:

Assigning FAVORITE CNA'S to easy runs..we all deserve a break from the hustle and bustle, NO favoritism here.

Regarding Glove limitations: I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE THIS ONE..LET ME SEE THE ADMINISTRATORS BE ISSUED A "HANDFULL" OF GLOVES AND EXPECT THAT TO LAST 25 PATIENTS FOR 8 HOURS...

ALSO: FEED THE CNA'S SOME GOOD FOOD RATHER THAN DONUTS..AGAIN..

just my :twocents::twocents::twocents::twocents::twocents::twocents::twocents::twocents: worth...
