I am in the same boat. I start in about a month. Honestly, unless you've already been through nursing school at one point or another, there is really nothing you can specifically work on. You can make sure that your home life is in order & things are organized there.
Just try to calm down & don't let the stress overrun your life. You definitely do not want your schoolwork to suffer.
Take some baths, long walks, long runs, etc..whatever you need to do to get yourself centered.
good luck.

I feel the same way. I have a child that will turn 3 in Oct. and my husband will be going to school and working full-time night shift and I will have to work weekends as well. It is going to be crazy and stressful and I am already going nuts.
I am very very stubborn so I am going to school with the mindset that I have to do this and there are no other options. I am hoping my strong determination to succeed will not let me down.
Good luck!

Good luck!!!
I am young - 23 - but I've been married for 4 years and have an almost 3yr old and one who turns one next month. Life is going to be CRAZY for a bit no doubt, but it will pay off!

I can help you. Give me your email address. I am finishing up a BSN in one years time. It can be done but you have to prioritize. I will give you pointers about what to expect and how to consolidate all the material. There is a learning curve to answering the quirky nursing questions. It doesn't matter how smart you are, if you can't understand what they want for an answer you will struggle. In the beginning, this was my problem until i figured it out.
I tutor people now in my program.

Relax! Yes nursing school is tough but totally doable. I start my 3rd semester next month and I felt the same way going into that 1st semester. But it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Is it challenging? Heck yeah! but like I said its totally doable. Don't think about the people that failed out. Don't set yourself up for a self fullfilling prophecy.
Time management is key. So much comes at you fast and furious.
Get organized!
Study every day. Even if its just for an hour doing practice questions. Its a lot of info, so make sure you don't slack off.
I know nursing textbooks are super expensive, I've spent almost a thousand dollars on nursing textbooks thus far. But spend a little more and get yourself a study guide. Be it Saunders - My FAve! The Reviews and Rationales Series or The Success Series. I love them all. The more practice questions you can do the better so if you can afford to get them all, do that. If not get the Saunders Guide. You can use it from the moment you start nursing school right up until you take the NCLEX. Best $45 I ever spent!

Calm down and take a deep breath. I was fearful at first as well, but I'm now in my 3rd semester of nursing school and also have four children (5,6,8,13) to raise. I'll tell you that you must take the time every day or night to find time to do some kind of studying. You have to be able to critical think about the questions that are on the tests. They aren't easy but it can be accomplished. I was a straight A student in pre-reqs and I'm now a B student (90 is a B in Nursing) but I know I'm doing well. You will be just fine if you can get in the right mindset. Don't let those horror stories hamper your dreams. Not everyone is meant to be a nurse and that's why nursing classes are so hard. Would you want someone working on you that didn't know what they were doing? Alot of these people telling horror stories either failed out or didn't take the time to study and prepare like they should. I love nursing school right now even though it's a constant struggle I know I can do whatever it is I put my mind too. I've wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a tiny little girl, and I'm determined to pursue my dreams. Don't let them scare you away. Put your nose in the books and you will do just fine. I promise!!!

Hold your head up! I'm always hearing about how drastic the drop is once NS actually starts, or most of the time - beforehand! If this is what you truly want to do, stick with it! Don't become one of the statistics! If you see yourself nursing and feel inspiration all around you, you'll find a way to stick with it. It all depends on how badly the person wants this! So you must ask yourself, do you really want this? It seems to me a lot of the people who flunk/drop out so soon just didn't know what they wanted in the first place! If you know for a fact nursing is your passion, you'll find the strength to beat the odds! Good luck! :)
