FCCJ Summer 2010 hopefuls...

Published

Is it too early to start a thread like this? LOL

I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites this fall, and then applying in the spring for the Summer 2010 session. I still need to study for the NAT and actually take the exam and take a CPR course. I'm considering getting my CNA and trying to find work in healthcare to get my foot in the door.

I am so nervous about the whole process, nervous about whether I should try to work and go to school, and especially nervous if this is something I can handle. I am afraid of all the responsibility.

Anyone else planning for next Summer? What is your process looking like, what are your thoughts/feelings?

:nurse:

lol wow. this place exploded with posts when the letters came.

I checked mine right now after I checked this morning and I GOT IN!!!!

I applied with 215pts for weekdays

I wish there was a way we could private message and get each other's info and meet up before hand.

There is. There are little icons under each person's name, where it says "Registered User" and they let you send a private message, or email. I would love to meet up beforehand.

What does the icon look like? I don't think I have it!

I got an email today, but I just checked the mail and no letter. So hopefully there was no mix up and I will get something in the mail tomorrow.

same. i printed the whole 28 pages out because there was nothing in the mail

There is no time posted for the orientaion. Has anyone else noticed this or found a time somwhere within packet.

To psg513a I am really pulling for you, I hope your 191.60 is enough. My points are 191.64. I am currently in micro, so will be over 200 in the fall, but I really want to go ahead and get started. It looks like each year the cut gets higher, with fall being the lowest cut of the year because there are the most seats open. Keep your fingers crossed that we are high enough that we will hear something positive next week.

Orientation will be at 8:00 am! :) I will try to come down there when is time for you guys to draw numbers and pick classes, they give you a break and I will tell you who to take and who NOT to take lol

I believe that the email icon opens up after you have made at least 15 posts. I am brand new here myself so I could be wrong.

:lvan:Last term it was an all day orientation, 8 or 830-4 or 5 but we got out early. It starts with intro's from the School and is followed by lectures (short) and info on background, medical screenings... The polo shirt vendor had an emergency and wasn't there then. We drew numbers from a "hat" and chose our classes. You choose a section that has a schedule attached. If you get group 4 you are paired with group 3 for all of your classes, but only clinicals with group 4. There were 12 per group. Most picked by the clinical hospital attached to the group. Most bought books while they waited to pick groups. They have the books boxed and ready for you to inventory, sign and purchase. Then it's study time until the first day when we take our first two exams (we take exams on Mondays, everyone in the term, same exam, same time, no classes on Mondays) . Instructors submitted everything to Blackboard starting the Wednesday before classes started. They asked you to come with everything printed out, and assigned reading for the first week.

It's a lot of work - we'll survive and LOVE it!

You say next week, do you think they are done for the week? Have they notified everyone that will be notified? Or will this continue for a few days until they are all out?
