Well, it's never too soon to start thinking about this. Anyone else thinking of applying for Summer 2009?
My stethoscope isn't engraved either. I wouldn't mind getting my name engraved on it. Makes it less desirable to "walk away", if you know what I mean.
My uniforms are due to arrive today. Still need to buy some khaki pants.
I don't know about everyone else...but I AM SO EXCITED! Can't wait to go to orientation. doin' the happy dance!

Does anyone know of a company in Jax that I can take my stethescope to be engraved? My brother is a doctor and gave me one of his- I want to get my name on it rather than a name piece that attaches to it. Any suggestions?
I found an individual that does this I am going next week to see her....if she does a good job I will definately pass along the information. All I do know is its $10 for the first 10 letters and .30 for each additional...but she doesnt work weekends. I just dont want to recommend her until I see her work.
I read through quite a few of your postings. I am finishing Term 1 (days) right now. The paperwork, physicals, etc. are all very confusing. Orientation will help answer some questions. Some of you mentioned trying to reach Mrs. Porter... fyi she teaches classes and also manages the skills lab, so she's very busy. She'll get back to you as soon as she can. Some of you seem discouraged by the confusion... don't let it get you down. It is all very confusing, but you'll all figure it out. Part of the confusion comes from the fact that the nursing department no longer has a director. The interim director had to step down. I wish I could tell you that all of the confusion goes away... the truth is, it doesn't, but it does slow down some, and you'll get used to "going with the flow"... so far, it seems like flexibility is the key to surviving.
I did want to let you all know about some of the instructors for first term (I wish someone had let me in on this)... Mrs. Burns is fabulous! I had her for pharm. She isn't teaching this summer, but those of you starting term 1 in the fall should definitely take her... be prepared, she flies through lecture, but she will answer questions... she's really good and knows her stuff. If you can, take Ms. Huggins for Assessments... she's awesome!!! It doesn't really matter who you have for Concepts... the class is boring... it isn't overly difficult at all... just really dry... grit your teeth, you'll get through. As for Techniques... practice, practice, practice and get to the lab as early in term as you can. Again, not hard, but there is a lot to remember.
Congrats on all of your acceptances! It is nerve racking at first, but keep your day planner updated and stay on top of your class work and study hard... you'll do great!
