FCCJ Summer 2009, anyone?

Published

Well, it's never too soon to start thinking about this. Anyone else thinking of applying for Summer 2009?

Hi, everyone! I have just joined this post, though I have been watching and enjoying all of the great information you guys have shared. I was accepted into the day program for this summer. I just wanted to share some info I received this afternoon....I called and asked about the one month from May 11th for the physical. I was told that the physical had to be dated within one month of May 11th, meaning April 11th or later. I did not look at a calendar until after I got off of the phone with the lady. Then I noticed the 11th is a Saturday, making Monday the 13th, which would only give us Monday and Tuesday by 5 pm to get the physical done and submitted. I tried to call them back to express the small chance of everyone being able to accomplish this and got no answer. I will try again tomorrow, but the lady made it very clear that the physical had to be dated April 11th or later, which could be very disturbing for those who have already gotten it done. Just wanted to share this so maybe we can get it clarified again before anyone wastes money having to repeat their physical just because of the date. :wink2:

Thanks Canady. The letter didn't seem ambiguous to me, but unfortunately it will be next to impossible to do it in just one day. They should have gotten their letters out early and given us enough time. Thanks for the heads up.

So there are people in the nursing office this week? This is absolutely absurd! Are you kidding me- really 2 days!?!

Additionally, how were you able to talk to somebody about the physicals if Crystal isnt back in the office until the 6th for Spring Break? Who did you talk to?

Huckfin~ I'm in the same boat- I had my PPD done last week and my physical is scheduled for tomorrow (bloodwork completed)... What are you going to do?

Congratulations getting into the program and I look forward to meeting you. I was also worried about that physical timeframe. Thanks so much for checking it out. I am also confused about which date everything has to be in the office - Monday the 13th or Tuesday the 14th 5:00 p.m. Does anyone have clarification on the due dates? Thank you.

Just called the nursing department- spoke with somebody new--- here's what I got:

According to her, the paperwork is due on Monday the 13th and apparently the physical exam paperwork isn't due until the 23rd- at orientation (certainly not written in our packet)- which she was pretty insistant about. I don't know about this folks but this is hot off the press. I'm only passing on what I know- I did change my appointment to the 13th though for the physical- I'm turning that in with the rest of my paperwork.

And another point!! The PPD takes 2-3 days to marinate before being read- so if everything is due on the 14th- as page 2 of our packet says then are they expecting that the PPD be given on the Monday the 13th and read 3 days later or given the week prior so that it can be read on Monday. I have a feeling they will be singing a different tune when we call inquiring come Monday the 6th.

Wish this week wasn't Spring Break... soooo many questions....

*Please take this infomation with a grain of salt. I would feel better once we confirm come Monday*

:wink2: North side assured me, the correct dates are always on their forms, they have never had a problem :wink2: I am going to enjoy the rest of my week!

:lol_hittiWhat does that mean- that the correct dates are on their forms? If it wasn't done after April 11th then it was incorrect apparently...

I just called again and spoke to whoever is answering their phones. She also told me that the physical isn't due until orientation on the 23rd and that is must be dated after the 11th. The PPD also says the same thing so I asked her if that was due on the 23rd also. She said she did not know for sure, that they only told her about the physical. She said the best thing we can do is wait until Monday when they get back to do anything. If all of the medical stuff isn't due until the 23rd, it seems all we have to have done is the legal stuff by the deadline in the packet. I guess I will go ahead and do all of the legal stuff, schedule my physical for the 11th, and call and talk to someone on Monday. This is all very nerve racking and seems a bit unorganized.

What doesn't make sense to me is the focus on April 11th.....what, we will suddenly have a change of health in 12 days??!?!?!?!:banghead: Whatever.

:twocents:

Okay this is getting a little crazy. The 1st page of our packets states what we have to turn in and when, if I'm not mistaken, the physical is the first thing on the list and is to be turned in on the 14th of April by 5pm. It is noted two different times on two different sheets. It also states that if we fail to turn these in we will not be able to register for classes, which takes place after orientation when we get our sections assigned, pretty sure about that. The girl answering the phone could be mistaken, I'm gonna keep moving forward and talk to them on Monday.

so I went today and had my physical, blood work, immunizations, drug screening, and my tb test done at the ns medical clinic. I was feeling pretty good until I came home and read all the posts! This is crazy.... I don't even think the nursing department knows what the heck is going on... all I know is I better not lose my spot because FCCJ can't give clear instructions on what we are supposed to do!!!

Yeah, after all the posts, I cancelled my appt today and rescheduled for April 13th.....(I am a military wife so I am going to go there).

I am going to wait until Monday when we can get a better answer.....maybe even chat with the Dean about the lack of clarity.
