U.S.A. Florida

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

Hey everyone!

I'm scheduled to take the NAT later this week for the first time. I'm very nervous, and have been studying from the Nursing for Allied Health Practice Book. Although, I'm not sure if It's going to be enough! I'm not a very good test taker and get very flustered when the time comes to take a test. Could anyone please assist me?? Any information will be a great help for me, at least just to calm my nerves. Thanks so much!

hey everyone! i took the NAT today and i feel so great! i had to take the TEAS for UNF and that didn't go so well, so i was very happy to do well on the NAT. i got a 108.16, so with my gpa i have 202.16, maybe a little more because i got a B+ in a class so i think i get 9.something for that.

202 is good right? the packet says you need a 120 to be considered, so i feel pretty good.

and as far as studying goes- i didn't. i did the best on the science section because most of my questions were on anatomy, which was my favorite class. there is not enough time to do the math problems in the academic aptitude section, and the reading section is literally reading a passage and the question is pretty much fill in the blank word for word. it's just the time constraints that make it difficult. so to anyone who hasn't taken it yet: don't worry you'll do well! :)

melt, congrats on doing well on the NAT! FSCJ doesn't recognize + or - on the grades. A B+ counts as a B. 202 is definitely good. :)

SaraFL,

thank you!

that's too bad about not recognizing + or -

are you in the program already or are you applying for fall?

melt, I just started in the summer program, nights/weekends.

FLmomof5...Thank you so much. I have researched this site for an answer for days. I have read a lot of your post and happy you responded to me. I tried to e-mail you but couldn't because I'm new.

Is withhold adjudication considered a conviction? Also, do you think it would be a good idea to explain my situation to HR at Baptist/Wolfson's and see how they feel about it? I would just like to know for sure. Thank you so much. = )

When I did clinicals, I think the only places that had real issues with people who had been arrested were St. Vincent's. Everyone has to do Peds at Wolfson's so the program might deny you admission based on if you are not able to go there. I know a lot of people with flaws on their background checks had no problems going to both Baptist and Wolfson's, but there are a lot of clinical sites available besides these two.

True, but if you are denied by Baptist....that includes Wolfson's...and that is the ONLY Peds site. That is why Baptist is the one that has major concern.

Hi guys I'm new here and just have a few questions regarding the application. I am applying for the fall program and have sent in my transcripts and I have completed all of my prereqs. I took AP classes in highschool and passed a total of four of them (Psychology, English Composition, American Literature, and Statistics.) My question is if i send these scores in it only gives me the option to send them to one place which I am assuming is the office of admissions. I am not able to send them to the address that they requested me to send my college transcripts. Do you think that if I just send them to the office of admissions it would be ok? Also, do I need to send them my high school transcripts if I took chemistry in college? And one last question is do I need to send in my SAT scores to the school? Thanks for helping me out. I have tried contacting a bunch of people at the school but I just get passed around and nobody can really tell me what to do. I would really appreciate the help. :) And good luck to everyone that's applying.

hey Lwalk,

the packet says you only have to send your high school transcript if you are using high school chemistry as your prereq. i don't think you need to send your SAT scores, i didn't send mine.

you have to send your transcripts to that address on the nursing packet, they have to evaluate it and post it on your connections account, you have to print it out and attach it to your nursing application (i was confused about this but the lady just emailed me back this morning) i'm not sure if it works the same way for AP scores though. i thought all AP credits were posted on our transcripts (they are on mine)

i feel like the only way to get anything done with fscj is going there and seeing someone.

good luck.

I didn't use a website, but used the ARCO book. I used it as a kinda review just to get back into the mode of testing. The biggest advice I would give you is to relax going into the test, in the math portion do the easiest ones then go back to the hard ones, read the questions in the reading comp so you know what to look for when reading the paragraph. Just a couple of test taking tips. I got 112.64 after the calculations...

relax... breath in... breath out...
