FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

hi everyone!!!

well another day has gone by and i still have not heard from worksource. i left a message yesterday and still nothing. i really don't understand. i feel like i did when i was waiting for our acceptance letters!!!!:banghead: most of ya'll have heard from them within days or maybe a week or so. someone said they called and left a message and they called them right back. i don't want to be a stalker or anything but gosh why in the world am i not getting any answers!! i just want to know already:devil: they are being unprofessional by not at least returning my calls. if they are still working on it then call me and say so. i am so p'd off right now:angryfire!!! sorry guys i really had to vent.

ending on another note: orientation is in 2 freaking days!!!

Yea orientation! Got my uniforms today. The shirts fit fine, lab coat a little big but managable. Did we decide to do anything to distinguish us allnurses people at orientation? Sorry to hear about your worksource bamboozling. Did you try another office? Maybe you can just go to the worksource at North Campus and explain the situation?

So bossladii, you're going to go through nursing school without clinicals and then state your case before the board or can you get approval before you start school? Remember, we're all supporting you. God's grace is more than enough for your past.

Nurse-n-2010 :: I know how you feel. I felt the same way. I don't think that office does good business. Have you tried calling the WorkSource office @ North Campus? I would think your application would be in their system and they would be able to tell you something...

Thank you for the support!!! I need it.

As far as nursing school, I NEED clinicals to complete nursing. What I was saying is..if I make it through clinicals, I would still have to plead my case infront of the state boards.

Specializes in none.

nurse-n-2010: I've been working with Mary Ann from the Fleming Island office and she is amazing!! She's very nice and will tell you if you stand a chance of getting aid right off the bat. I will let you know how things go tomorrow. I don't have her # on me right now, but another person recommended me to her on this site and her # is on here somewhere.

Everyone: Where are you guys getting your khaki's??? I got the smallest size from meridy's and they were SOOOO baggy I had to send them back. I also had to get my lab coat exchanged for an x-small. It will be nice to have all of this straightened out.

Another thing....if I already have a Taber's and an RNnotes..should I have to purchase different ones if its from a different edition? I think those will just be reference materials, so they might be okay.

So I went to Stat-line and got all my skills stuff up. Picked out a BP cuff too. The guy there said he'd heard about this site through one of us and I took him to the site. They are really cool people! I just missed another girl who picked up her stuff right before me. Dunno if she was one of us allnurse.

I am still waiting on Meridy's....Geez, this seems like a never-ending waiting period. Hope you are all having a good day.

I second did we decide to do anything that distinguishes all nurses because I really want to meet all of you. I am excited to meet some new friends going in the same direction as I am. My sister graduated from FCCJ RN program four years ago and works with and is still friends with some of the girls from school. You have all really helped with this whole process and easing my stress. I was also wondering do we need to have the skills kit picked up before orientation? My car broke again and I am not sure I will be able to find a way to get it by Thursday.

Hey Amber. According to the Stat-Line paper we recieved in our packet we need to have them by the second week.

Also I don't know yet if there wa a decision on what to wear to distinguish "us". I'm up for whatever ya'll decide. I think I remember seeing something about wearing black shirts...

Specializes in Intensive Care Unit.

Yo Megan... I met with Mary Ann today from WorkSource and she was so freaking nice. She gets off topic rather easily, so if you're at a hunch for time, try not to add extra stuff like I did. LoL. But I liked her. I was expecting someone really mean and grouchy, being non-supportive and all.

She's the total opposite. She had pictures of graduating Nurses from SJRCC on her wall in her cubicle. I asked about them and she said they were her "babies." You'll like her.

The turn around is about a week, she said. It depends on who carries your papers down to Market Street.

So orientation is in 2 days... Are we doing the black shirts/tops and the green dot? Or should we do something different?

you get your skills kit the day of orientation....good luck everyone!! It's a great ride!
